Everyone soon gathered around the porch of the infirmary; exhausted and aching, but waiting to hear what the next move was going to be.

"You look like you've been to hell and back, darling." Abraham joked, pulling me out of my tired thoughts.

"I feel like I've been." I laughed, pushing loose strands of hair out of my face, "Everything hurts and all I want to do is sleep."

"You and me both-- hell, you and everyone." He chuckled.

"So-" I stopped, sighing as I tried to find my words, "What exactly happened out there?" I asked, knowing a bit of what was briefly mentioned before, but curious about the rest.

He crossed his arms, leaning against the side of the house, "Lead the biters the distance, took the turn, and ended up in shits creek; no warning, just assholes with guns a blazing."

"Did you ever see any of them? Did they have W's on their foreheads like the people that came here did?" I questioned.

"Never really got the pleasure of meeting said assholes," he shrugged, "Maybe you should talk to Daryl about it; he said he came face to face with a few of them."

"Yeah, I'm going to," I nodded, "I was just gonna wait for Denise to finish stitching him up so it's not so crowded in there."

Abraham shook his head, "Just go in; I'm sure he'd like to see you some more anyway."

I nodded again, pushing myself off the wooden porch and to the door of the infirmary before pushing it open, causing all eyes to glance over to me for a second before back to what they were doing.

My eyes briefly met Daryl's before he turned away, "Can ya hurry this up?" He mumbled, fidgeting under Denise's hands.

"It'd be done a lot faster if you sat still, Daryl." She said, placing her hands on his shoulders to steady him.

As I walked closer, my eyes soon focused on his back, seeing multiple scars scattered along it, confirming the story about his childhood; a story that hurt to hear and broke my heart to see.

I then made my way over to where he sat, standing in front of him as I subtly placed my hand over his, causing him to look at me. It was clear that there was a lot that we both wanted to talk about, but we stayed silent, knowing that there was a better time for all of it.

"Liz, how's your face feeling?" Denise asked, looking over Daryl's shoulder at me, "Any swelling? Stinging?"

I shook my head, "No, it feels ok."

Daryl then lightly grabbed my chin with one hand, pushing it to the side to see the cut on my jaw better, "Who did it?"

I shrugged in his grasp before he lowered his hand, "It was one of the people who got in the other day."

"Ya kill him?" His raspy voice asked before I hesitantly nodded, "Good; bastard deserved it."

"Well, no matter how it happened," Denise began, looking over at me once again, "I want to keep an eye on it and get those tapes changed as soon as we can."

"Oh, I can do that real quick for you." Maggie said as she walked by, hearing our conversation, before gesturing me over.
I soon followed behind her and sat on a free bed, across from Glenn, as she pulled out more hydrogen peroxide, tape, and a small rag.

"Glad to see your still alive, kid." Glenn joked as he drank from a half filled water bottle.

"Yeah, right back at you." I chuckled before tensing as Maggie ran the peroxide along the cut, causing it to sting momentarily.

"I know who else is glad to see you still here." Maggie smirked, causing me to give her a confused look as she began to cut more tapes.

"Who?" I asked curiously.

"Well, don't tell him I told you," she whispered, sticking the tapes on one by one, "But you were the first one Daryl asked about when we finally met up inside the walls."

I nodded, taking in what she said before I looked up, noticing Rick as he walked into the room, his eyes bloodshot and tired.

"How's Carl?" Michonne asked as she rhythmically bounced Judith.

"He's fine, he's still out, but I think he's fine." Rick nodded, looking around to all of us, "When you're all done in here, I'd like to talk to everyone outside."

"I actually just finished Daryl up." Denise said as she cut the stitching thread from the needle she was using.

"Yeah, and we're all done over here." Maggie added as she screwed the cap back onto the hydrogen peroxide bottle.

Rick nodded, taking a deep breath before heading out the door of the infirmary as we all soon followed behind.

"So after everything that's happened the last couple of days, I'd like everyone to stay aware of their surroundings at all times. Maybe stay in groups at night, whatever it takes, just don't take any chances." Rick said after he finished going over the recent events, "Those people got into these walls without us knowing, and until we find out how they did that, Alexandria is vulnerable."

"Rick's right," Michonne added, "So if you see something out of place or something that just doesn't look right to you, tell someone."

Rick nodded, "I want everyone who needs it to get some rest right now-- get cleaned up and go to bed; it's been a long night and it'll be an even longer day." He continued as he looked around at the group of people, still covered in blood, in front of him, "We're gonna start rebuilding the wall immediately and we'll need all the help we can get now that both Deanna and Reg are gone."

"I still have a copy of the plans in a drawer back at my house," Tobin spoke up, "I'll bring them by before we start."

"Thank you," Rick nodded, "You can all go home now and get some rest."

_____
Hey, I'm currently working on the Sequel to For The Ones I Love and hopefully the first few chapters will be up soon.
The main thing I'm struggling with is finding a title that fits it tbh
Also, I've found that writing two fanfics at once, that include all the same people just with changed mentalities, after everything that's happened to them, is actually really difficult lmao but that's not gonna stop me so don't worry
