Math. Ew

Science. Meh

History... not too bad.

What day is it today? Gotta make sure I study for that -

"Ok kiddos!" Mrs. Gade announced in her chain smoker voice. "Get out ya pens n' pencils. Let's get this test started!"

Shit.

The class all groaned in frustration and irritation.

"Remember! This one covers the early stages of US political history that we've learned so far this semester."

Double shit.

I hate US history.

I know nothing about US history.

And I'm Freaking American!

Mrs. Gade reached my desk extending her old wrinkly hand to hand me the test.

She was a nice old lady, although everyone at school made fun of her because of her voice.
Imagine a raspy old man voice and the sound of a garbage disposal; mix those two together and BOOM!

That's how Mrs. Gade talks.

I looked at the first question.

Who was the fifth President of the United States of America?

Oh god like I cared or remembered that shit!

This is going to be a loooonnnnng ass test.

:::

Lunch.

Ah, my favourite part of the school day.

A whole period meant to stuff your face. Now that's my kind of class!

If you guys were wondering (you should be, I'm important), my test went terribly!

Failed!

At least I got English at the end of today instead of freaking gym.

Ugh. Gym.

I sat down at a long gray lunch table which was tucked away in the far corner of the cafeteria. I put down my green tray that held my grilled cheese sandwich and smiley face fries.

At least my food was smiling and having a good day.

From my peripheral vision, I see a tall figure come towards me.

"James," I mumbled with a mouthful of food, "I totally failed my history test man! I completely forgot to-"

I stopped my rambling when I looked up to see my visitor.

Oh My God.

That's not James.

I quickly swallow my food and wipe my mouth with my sleeve.

"Hey Charm!" Jacob exclaims, sitting across from me on the plastic bench of the lunch table.

"J-J-Jacob!" I stutter out, trying to comprehend what the hell was going on right now.

"Did I catch you at a bad time? It looked like you and that sandwich were getting pretty close with one another." He laughed with a smile.

"Ha! Yeah... um... sandwich."
