May 4th 1940

Some of the railway's branchlines were complete and they were, Anderson's branchline (Evwick Branch) and Renel's branchline (Telmouth branch). The lines that were left were the branch that heads to Truds and the branch that heads to another island which is planning to end at a town called Piplin.

One night, Caleb was taken a millitary train to Skegness. When he heard a what sound like a plane.

'That's odd,' he thought, 'no plances are surpose to be flying tonight.'

Then, he whistle in shock as a plane went by him the oppersite direction inches from touching him.

"Well," fumed Caleb, "who was that idiotick man."

But before his driver could reply there was an almighty CRASH!!

"Bust my buffers!" exclaimed Caleb as he came to a stop, "that must have been that plane!"

"Proberly," said his driver worriedly, "we must go back and see what happen."

Caleb then rushed backwards with his train. "Oh oh oh!" rattled the trucks.

"Oh be quiet," said Caleb as he headed towards the scene.

But as they came round a bend his driver gasp and his fireman owed in dismay.

"What is it?" called Caleb.

"We must call the police when we get to Telmouth," said his driver increasing the regulator.

Caleb was confuse and wonder what was wrong but as he went by, he saw a massive fire in the middle of the field and what look like was on fire was, the plane.

"Fizzling fireboxes!"  exclaimed Caleb and rushed towards Telmouth station.

Crystel was at the station with a troup train, waiting for a clear path. She was very surprise to see Caleb shunting his train into the platform.

"What's going on?" asked Crystel crossly, "I was surpos-"

"A plane has crash in a field!" said Caleb ignoring Crystel and telling the station master, "call for the all emergancy services!"

The station master did exsactly that and soon the emergancy services were at the scene. An ambulance quickly took men to the hospital. It took several hours but the fire was soon put out.

"How could this happen?" asked Caleb worriedly.

"Don't know," said a firefighter, "but it could be faulty landing or engine."

Caleb thought about it. "But," he said, "why would they land here? I mean, there's a runway at Tidbridge." A town that went further east from Carrag had a runway that was built in January.

"But what evidence do we have left," said the firefighter, "we'll just have to wait and see if the two crew members are alright."

And with that, Caleb and the fireman left. But only the policemen stayed. This accident wasn't going to slip away that easily.

For the past few days, Caleb was thinking about the ancident. He had had an interview from the policemen and his crew had it too. Even the trucks, which took along time for them to say the intire witness. But one day The Old Controller came up to the sheds with a newspaper in one of his hands.

"What is it sir?" asked Anderson.

The Old Controller then showed the piece of paper in front of the engines. The engine stare at the newspaper.

"Um, sir," said Ashfull, "we can't read."

"Oh yeah," said The Old Controller, "mind playing tricks on me again."

He then started to read the peice of paper. "Men awake from plane accident."

"That wonderful," exclaimed Crystel.

"Indeed," said Ashfull.

"But," said The Old Director, "they are German."

The engines then looked at The Old Director, then each other, then back again.

"Sir," said Anderson worriedly, "could this mean that the Germans would come looking for us?"

"We don't know," said The Old Director, "but we'll have no choice but to wait until they are well to-"

"Well," wheeshed John, "why are they doing that?"

"Because we need to get information from them for the next attack on England or even France," said The Old Director and he walk away.

"Bother," said Caleb, "out of all the countries England, France, America! It has to be are oppenents."

"Calm down," said Renel, "don't worry, you could actually maybe save lives for that they could have evidence for there next attack."

"And can they know this?" questioned Ashfull.

"Because they are in an air force that attacks the cities," said Crytel, "just like Renel said, they may know when the Germans next attack."

The engines said nothing. They just thought about the war. Some thought about the men in the front line. Some thought about the Germans and other countries that were in the war. Some thought about the men in the plane accident. Anderson thought about Stan, Jim and aspecialy Thomas, thinking of how they'll survive through the rough trenches in France.

Soon enough the Germans soon gave out evidence of the next attacks for London, Manchester and Sodor. They also said that the reason why they came to Thesang because they were a scare. Nobody (except John) didn't blame them. Soon in June 16th 1940, The Thesang German Camp Corperation was built further north from Nithsdale where people from Germany that wher in Britain would go to and stay there until the end of the second world war.

Even so Caleb had mix feelings about the Germans, it didn't effect his work. After all, he was an engine working for the NE.
