Casey dropped me at my house and was off to hers, my home was quiet when I entered.
“Mom I’m back” I called to her, but there was no answer in return so I decided to look for her. I took of my sneakers and threw my backpack besides the door and went to kitchen to get some water. As I passed the living room I saw that it was empty and so was the veranda. When I reached the kitchen I saw that the breakfast that I had made for her was still untouched. Strange I thought, maybe she hasn’t woken up yet. I thought as I climbed up the stairs to her room, my body grew tense as I couldn’t feel her presence; a forbearing sensation grew in my stomach as I opened her bedroom door.
Her room wasn’t large, the walls were painted a dull peach colour and ha furniture to match. Seeing her alright I heaved a sigh of relief,
“Mom you scared me, why didn’t you answer when I called you?” I questioned as I walked toward her.
“You wouldn’t believe what happened today, we got a new P.E teacher, he’s a werewolf too and it seems that were not the newest members of the pack anymore. Isn’t that a relief?” I laughed as I sat on her bed. She had she back to me, as she faced the window. I waited for her to scold me for talking about the pack like that but that didn’t come.
“Mother what’s wrong?” I said as i got up and walked toward her
“Mother” I touched her back making her face me, when I saw her face a gasp escaped my lips. There she sat staring at me her once brown eyes were coal black as she stared lifelessly ahead.
“MOM!” I tried shaking her to get up from the trance she was in but to no avail, though she breathed normally she didn’t seem to respond.
“Please tell me what’s wrong, tell me!” I shouted now, clearly desperate now. I quickly got up and went to get some water, filling a cup a dashed back to her and sprinkled some of it on her face.
“Mom please wake up, please”, no sign came. Please don’t leave me I thought as I lifted her frail body and placed her on the bed. With no other option left I tried call Casey but she didn’t pick up. I called again and again but no she didn’t pick up. Grunting I tired contacting her through the mind link, I removed my shield only to be met with another.
“NO! This can’t to be happing right now!” the whole pack seemed to be blocked of from me somehow, why this is happening now I thought slowly losing hope.
‘Don’t give up now Rose’ a voice told me, a voice with whom I was familiar.
‘Your back’ I though ‘Serena your back’. Serena was my wolf, my friend, my partner throughout all that life had put us through. ‘Why did you leave me, look what happened to Mom, she isn’t waking up I’ve tried everything she isn’t waking up! And the whole pack seemed to be blocked off from me our mind link.’
‘I know she said I can’t feel the presence of another wolf through the link either.’ She told me.
‘What should we do?’ I asked her. ‘ Lets go to go Casey her home is the nearest to us right now’ she answered..
‘Your right but I don’t want to leave mom like this what is she needs us.’
‘We’ll have to take that chance now come on!’ She said, alright I answered and with that I launched myself through the window and changed mid fall into my Black wolf, a wolf‘s colour would reflect one’s true self and I guessed my black colour showed the pain that I had endured. Landing on all fours I made a run towards Casey’s house using all the strength I had in me I pushed forward into the forest. I hadn’t changed into my wolf for a while and changing now just reminded me how much I missed it,
