It has felt like years since I left. Since that day, where I stood at the Marina, staring into the water with tears in my eyes. Even though Professor Kukui was talking to me and wishing me well for the future, all I could think about was... him. I couldn't believe that I didn't tell Sun about my departure.
(Flashback)
"Lillie!" He shouts from the distance. I gasp, and look up. I'm so glad he came to say goodbye - and then I remember I didn't say I was leaving, and I wanted to slap myself for it.
"Where... are you going, Lillie?" He asks, tears in his eyes. I know he's expecting the worst.
"I-I'm going to Kanto, Sun. For my sake, and for my mother's," I stutter, unable to suppress the tears. My warm, salty tears roll down my cheeks, and Sun cries too, although he tries to hide it. In fact, Hau is crying too, and even Kukui sighs and closes his eyes to suppress his tears. Sun wipes some of his tears away, and looks at me, signalling for a hug. Of course I wanted to hug him, especially at a time like this. With my tears spilling down my face, and practically jump into his open arms, and he holds me close, the both of us crying our hearts out.
"B-but I'm coming back someday... I promise," I say, my voice quivering.
"Promise?" He sniffs.
"I promise, Sun."(End Of Flashback)
I sigh, and continue to stare at the sea beyond from the ferry's deck where I'm stood, leaning over the railings. It's time I fulfilled that promise.
I wipe a tear from my eye, and head back to the room on the ferry where my mother and I have been staying. I feel bad to leave her alone for too long, even if she has fully recovered from the... incident... about a year ago now, when she fused with that Nihilego.
"Hello, mother. Are you okay?" I ask, as I open the door to our room.
"Yes, thank you darling. How are you? You know you don't have to check in on me every five minutes," mother laughs.
"Sorry, I just..." I sit down on the sofa and sigh, looking out of the window. I don't notice, but behind me, mother sighs and frowns.
"Lillie, are you okay?" She asks, concerned.
"Yes, I am okay, thanks. Just... a little seasick," I say, searching for an excuse. Mother chuckles, and sits down next to me.
"Lillie, you don't get seasick,"
I have nothing else to say. There is a slight pause.
"You're thinking of him, aren't you?"
I quickly look up at my mother, trying to look innocent and confused.
"Him? You mean Gladion?" I say, desperately trying to avoid mentioning Sun. Mother chuckles again.
"You know who I mean," she whispers, smiling. I blush, and look away to hide it.
"You're thinking about Sun," Mother teases, putting her arm around me. I don't really like lying, especially to mother.
"Maybe," I admit.
"Ohhh, come on, it's okay. You haven't been the same since you left him, I have theorised you may have some... feelings for him," Mother grins. I sigh, but smile and give mother a hug.
"I'm just so glad that we're going back to Alola," I giggle.
"So am I! In fact, we should be there pretty shortly," Mother adds.
I get up from where I'm sat, and head back to the door.
"I think I'll go get myself a drink, if that's okay. I won't be long," I say.
"Take as long as you like, Lillie! Don't worry about me!" Mother laughs. I smile and nod, before closing the door behind me.I sip my Moomoo milk, staring out at the distance again. The flavour of the milk reminds me of some times in Alola. Suddenly, my mind fills with thoughts and worries.
I've told the professor that I'm coming back, but does anyone care? Does Sun care? Does Sun even remember me, or further still... does he love me, even after the year that we've been apart? I sigh, put my finished drink down on the table in front of me, and hold my head in my hands. I decide to play with my Pokémon, to help ease my mind. I bring Bulbasaur out of her Poke Ball, and she sits gently in my lap, staring up at me with big, glistening eyes. I smile at Bulbasaur, and feed her some Poke Beans. She was my first ever Pokemon, and I was given her by Professor Oak in the Kanto Region. My mind suddenly goes through some memories of me in Kanto. One of the first things I did in Kanto, as my mother was being looked after by Bill, was go on a tour of the region. I remember visiting the cities, towns, and fields. It was a beautiful place, but nothing like Alola. I caught my Pokemon there, including Bulbasaur, Jigglypuff, Sandshrew, and Butterfree, and I became strong enough to defeat my first gym, but that was all. I'm still not a huge fan of Pokemon battling, and I prefer to love and care for mine.
After I finish feeding and stroking Bulbasaur, I return her to her Poke Ball. I stand up and gaze at the beautiful horizon. Suddenly, I see it... far away in the distance. Alola. Here we go! The first chapter of 'Return To Alola' is here, and I'm really excited for the rest of the story, I really wanted to revisit 'Lillie's Return' at some point! XD
I'd like to know what you guys think about this, is it a good idea? Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed so far, and I hope to see you in the next chapter!
I apologise if this is poorly written compared to my other work, I was writing this at about midnight. XD~ Wanderer
