Lily was at work 15 minutes early. Good, she thought to herself. She opened her locker and took out her toiletries bag. She made her way to the ladies bathroom. When she got to the door, she saw the staff supplies cupboard just in front of her. A smile crept onto her face and she blushed. She still couldn't believe how Iain lied so well to Mrs Beauchamp, for her! Laughing slightly, she went into the bathroom. Robyn was stood at the mirror, touching up her make-up.

"Ooh, here she is! You have fun last night, then?"

"Good evening, Robyn. Enjoy the party?" Lily greeted the nurse and took out her hairbrush andbegan brushing her tangled hair.

"Ooh, I think someone might have enjoyed it more than me..." Lily looked at Robyn in the mirror, who was wiggling her eyebrows and smirking at her.

"What do you mean?" Lily asked, incredulous.

"Oh, come on! We all saw you leave with Iain!" Lily froze.

"W...What?" She just managed to stammer the word out.

"Yeah, we saw you leaving together, all luuurved up. So, come on, tell me everything. About time you two got together if you ask me." Robyn carried on applying her lipstick, clearly expecting Lily to respond. Lily stood silently, eyes wide, staring at herself in the mirror. Did everyone see them? Were they all thinking the same thing Robyn was?

"Nothing happened." Lily squeaked out, unwillingly. She got out her makeup and busied herself inapplying it.

"What? Why, Lily? Is everything ok?" Lily was surprised. Robyn sounded genuinely concerned, instead of nosey, like she expected. But Robyn had a lot more relationship experience than her, and she was a friend. She did need some advice.

"I woke up at his this morning, but we hadn't slept together. Neither of us can remember anything from last night. Then we just carried on like normal. I don't know what to think, Robyn. I really think I like him but he doesn't seem to return them feelings. He's just not making the first move." Lily finished and sighed, setting down her mascara, she turned around and leaned on the sink.

"Why don't you make the first move, then?" Robyn asked.

"I'm scared. I've never been that good at relationships and we have a really great friendship. I don't want to ruin that by scaring him off if he doesn't feel the same way." Lily quietened and looked down at her feet, embarrassed. She'd never opened up this much to any of her friends, never mindabout Iain.

"Aww, Lily." Robyn rested her hand on top of Lily's where it was holding the sink. "Look how close you two have become in the last few months. You can only grow closer. It will happen one day, coz I think he really likes you too. It's just a matter of time before you both realise that there's nothing to be afraid of."

Lily looked up at Robyn, who gave her a huge smile. Lily was grateful for the advice, and realised how much she'd misjudged Robyn for being a gossip. She placed her other hand over Robyn's.

"Thank you, Robyn." Lily smiled at her, pleased that she'd managed to share her feelings with someone. She looked down at their hands and her eyes fell to her watch:

21:06.

"We're late!" Lily jumped and quickly began sweeping everything into her toiletries bag and making her way for the door, Robyn following suit. Lily dashed into the corridor and bumped into Cal.

"Woah, watch it Lilypops!" Cal held his chest in mock pain and winced loudly.

"Sorry, Dr Knight." She said barely shooting him a second glance. Normally, she would have berated him for calling her that, but since he saved her life, an unlikely friendship had formed, where Lily couldn't argue with him and had to be nice to him, as she felt incredibly indebted to him. He enjoyed watching her hold in her comebacks to his witty comments, but felt like she was starting to genuinely be friendly to him now. Robyn also stumbled out from the bathroom a few seconds later.

"What's up with her? Shouldn't she be on Cloud Nine after last night?" Cal asked Robyn as they walked to the staff room together.

"No, guess what. They didn't sleep together. Can you believe it?" Robyn told him.

"What? No way! What is up with these two? I've been waiting ages for them to get together." Cal tutted in disbelief, he'd been expecting that Iain would ask Lily out for months now.

"Me too! They've been flirting since, what, Christmas?" Robyn asked him, glad that she found someone who felt the same way.

"Before that!" Cal thought about it for a minute, then remembered how Lily has signed Iain off work after the accident. "Since the helicopter crash!" He gestured with his hands and lowered his volume as they were stood near the lockers now, as Robyn put her things away and several staff members were milling around.

"Exactly!" Robyn shouted in frustration and slammed her locker door shut with a bang, attracting several people's attention. Quietly, they both left the staffroom and made their way towards reception.

"Why won't they do anything?" Cal asked her.

"She's scared and thinks he doesn't feel the same way." They both stopped at the nurses' station and leaned on the desk, looking at Lily who was stood speaking to another nurse behind reception.

"Iain's the same way. He's been staring at her, puppy dog eyes, for months now. Hasn't managed to pluck up the courage to ask her out."

"Someone needs to bang their heads together." Robyn remarked. As she did, Lily looked over in their direction. They both quickly looked down and grabbed the first files they could see. A few seconds later, Cal peered over his file, and saw that Lily was no longer looking at them. He put his file down and turned to Robyn, who did the same. He held his palm up, with a smug smile on his face.

"You're on, Miller." She smirked back and high-fived him.

"You're on, Knight." They walked away in opposite directions, their minds churning with plans.
