Wednesday

Iain looked over at Lily from across the desk. She was chatting to Robyn as she absent-mindedly rubbed her neck.  He smiled as he felt the same twinge in his neck from their sleep on the sofa the other night.

She looked over. He quickly busied himself with the papers he was supposed to be filling in.

"Would you like to explain why my boss just had a go at me?" Max sidled up next to him.

"What?" Iain asked, not really listening.

"Saturday. Something about taking paramedic gear..."

"Oh. You didn't..."

"Nah, I covered for you. You owe me a drink, though. And an explanation." He slipped away.

"Stop looking at him. You're making it too obvious." Robyn said.

"What do you mean?" Lily looked at the nurse and asked her.

Robyn shook her head and walked away. Lily followed her. "Robyn?"

Lily looked around to make sure no one was listening. Everyone was rushing around, occupied. Cal stood behind them on the phone.

"Right." Robyn stopped and turned around. "You clearly like him, so we need to do something about that."

"I don't know what to do though." Lily said dejectedly.

"Staff Nurse Miller, Dr Knight, Resus please." Connie opened the door of Resus and called them.

"Robyn, I need to tell you something." Lily suddenly blurted out. She felt it was unfair for Robyn to advise her when she didn't know about their living arrangements.

"Okay. We'll talk later, yeah? Pub after work?" She asked as she walked away.

Lily nodded as she watched Robyn head towards Resus.

"Nice going, Robyn." Cal said to her as they walked through the door.

"You were listening? Cal, that was private!" She hit him with a glove before pulling it on.

"Relax! You get Dr Chao to the pub and I'll bring Mr Dean. We'll discuss plans later." He snapped his glove on his wrist dramatically.

"Can't believe you!" She muttered as they got on with their work.

"Iain!" Lily reached out of a cubicle and grabbed him as he walked past.

He stumbled slightly, before smiling, realising who it was. "If you wanted me on my own, all you had to do was ask." He muttered sarcastically.

"What? No, I just need to tell you that I need to go to the pub with Robyn after work. Do you mind waiting?" She asked.

"Yeah, course. I owe Max a drink, anyway." He shook his head.

"What for?" She asked.

"Long story. See you later." He smiled at her, testing her reaction. To his delight, she grinned widely, and looked down, allowing her hair to cover her face. He left the cubicle with a shy smile on his face.

"No way!" Robyn exclaimed.

"Yes." Lily whispered.

"Oh my God, why didn't you tell me before?" She exclaimed, over excitedly, a huge smile on her face.
