I woke up this morning; the clock read 7:30. I sat upright. "Oh crap!" I yelled, "I woke up late."

I ran to my closet and through on a pair of blue jeans and my combat boots; then I put on a white tank top with a blue jean jacket. I ran my brush through my hair and put on light makeup. Finally, I ran downstairs and grabbed my lunchbox and bookbag. "Coming mom!" I yelled as I ran to the car which was starting up. "Sorry," I said breathless. "Woke up late, again."

Mom drove Maddie to high school; then, me to middle school. Surprisingly, I wasn't late for school; I still had twenty minutes left.

I went to my locker and heard someone say, "Mackenzie, you look like you live in a garbage can." I looked up and it was Asia. Of course.

"Shut up, Asia," I spat. "You're the one talking and you're wearing hand-me-downs from you grandmother."

Asia's jaw dropped, "YOU ARE SUCH A BRAT! WHY CAN'T YOU BE NICE TO ME?"

"What?" I asked, "You're the one that's been bullying me."

"STOP LYING," Asia cried.

By then, our homeroom teacher had come out of her room; she said, "Mackenzie, stop bullying Asia. What has she ever done to you? Dentention, Mackenzie!"

The word rang throughout my head. Dentention? But Asia's the one that's been bullying me. She's such a teacher's pet. I mutter under my breath as I walk past Asia, "Teacher's Pet." And I walked to the detention room.

I sat down in the front row. I didn't know anyone in here. Then, someone walked in.....It was.....Tyler. "Tyler, what are you doing in here?" I whispered.

"Late for class and didn't have my homework," Tyler said, "What about you, Miss Goody Two Shoes?"

"Asia, that's what," I say.

"That girl; I hate her guts," he said.

Tyler and I spent the entire day in detention because we weren't allowed to go anywhere else. The detention teacher let us go to our locker before we were dismissed from school, so now, I was at my locker. Asia pushed me into it and her little friends, Sophia and Grace, are standing, laughing behind her. What jerks? Sophia and Grace used to be my friends. What happened?

I walked out of the death trap known as school and found my mom and Maddie in the car waiting for me. I hopped in. Mom asked, "So how was your day?"

"Fine," I said. Then mumbled, "Ish."

We rode home in silence and then changed into our dance clothes. I wore my tiedye blue and green ALDC crop top with the matching dance shorts and my hair in a tight Sophia style bun. I grabbed my dance bag and Powerade and got back in the car to go to the studio.

We got there and walked into Studio A where everyone was standing in line. Maddie and I walked to our normal spots and mom went to hers. Abby started the pyramid.

Tyler

Maddie      Chloe

Nia        Asia        Mackenzie

I was on the bottom. Of course. Just because I forgot my aerial and probably caused the group to get second. Abby said -scratch that yelled- "Mackenzie, last week you were a disgrace to the Abby Lee Dance Company; your legs weren't straight, your feet weren't pointed, you forgot your aerial. Honestly, I don't know how solo won. No solo this week." I began to cry and couldn't stop. "Save those tears for the pillow!" Abby screamed at me.

"I'm sorry, Miss Abby," I cried through the tears.

"Okay, on an opposite note; the competition this week," Abby calmly said. "The group dance will be a lyrical routine called Safe and Sound. Duets- Tyler and Maddie, you will be doing a lyrical routine called Just Give Me A Reason. Chloe and Nia, you will be doing a contemporary routine called Friends Forever. Asia and Mackenzie, you will be doing an acro routine called According To You. Okay, Asia, Mackenzie, your duet first." The moms and the girls+Tyler left. Abby said, "Your dance is about a girl, Mackenzie, who gets bullied, Asia. According to Asia, Mackenzie is stupid and useless and can't do anything right. But according to some other person, Mackenzie is funny, irresistable, everything they ever wanted. And that's how she keeps her strength: that one person."

Asia looked at me and I knew she was thinking, "You are stupid and useless and can't do anything right."

Abby taught us our number and it ended with Asia pushing me to the ground and her running off the stage. Abby sent us out to go get Tyler and Maddie.

I walked up to the Viewing Room and sat with my mom. I saw Tyler and Maddie's dance. And something rose within me. Was it anger? Jealousy? I don't know; I just felt like Abby was doing this to me on purpose. She probably was.

After Tyler and Maddie left, Abby told Asia, Maddie, Tyler and I that we could go ahead and go home and we would work on the group tomorrow.

When I got home, I hopped into the shower and cleaned up. Then, I put on my pajamas. At my sink, I brushed my teeth; then, grabbed my blade and cut two more times into my wrist. With that, I flopped onto my bed and read Divergent.
