Usually, on the first morning of school, Florence would almost always wake up to complete and utter silence. Thea and Katelyn would be getting dressed quietly, Gabriella tiptoeing across the room to get her things together while Nicolai would still be dead asleep, drool escaping from the side of her mouth.
But this was not the case, as it seemed, on her final first morning. She knew it was so due to the fact that her mattress was shaking, as if someone was bouncing wildly on it. She peered her eyes open to find Nicolai, already bathed and dressed, looking down at her as she continued to stomp at her mattress.
"Get up, get up, get up!" she sang in an obnoxiously high pitch, Florence looking around to see their other roommates still asleep too. She frowned, as Nicolai hopped down from her bed. "Merlin's sake...What bloody time is it, Nic? What's all this racket about?"
"Nicolai!" Thea roared angrily from the opposite end of the room, also still tangled in her duvets, "Rowena's sake, shut her up!"
"Stop yelling!" groaned Gabrielle, shoving her head under her pillow, "All of you, please. I need my sleep."
"Aw, that's not the whole gang," Nicolai pouted, "Any commentary, Miss Abbey?"
"Yeah," Katelyn muttered from under her sheets, "Fuck off, Clearwater."
"Rude," she scoffed, clapping her hands loudly, "Come on, you big babies. Time to get up! A wonderful, sunny day awaits us. And plus all of you are late."
"It's not even daybreak yet, you asshole!" Thea shot back, only for Nicolai to trudge over to the window, pulling back the curtains to let the light in, "But it is."
"W-What time is it?" Florence sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She glanced at the time, taking her a few seconds longer to read it as she was still half asleep. The time displayed made her eyes go wide, all traces of drowsiness gone, "Merlin's sake, she's right, we are late to class!"
The four girls practically bolted out of their beds at this, scampering around the room to get their things together and to change out of their sleeping clothes, as they had no time to shower. Nicolai rolled her eyes, "Yeah, when she says it, you all take her word for it?"
"Why didn't you wake us up earlier?" Florence said incredulously, shoving books in to her bag while wiggling into her socks.
Nicolai shrugged, "It was pretty early when I went down for breakfast. I got carried away and forgot to come back for you. But if it's any consolation, I'm late too!"
"It's not—" her fingers fumbling to get the buttons on her top done, "—any consolation—" she tucked her tie under her collar, "—at all."
"I have to get my timetable from Professor Flitwick! We all do!"
"Oh no need, that I did for you. I stopped by the office before I went to the Great Hall for breakfast." she pulled out the copies from her bag. "Miss Price," Nicolai handed it to Florence, before distributing the rest to Thea, Katelyn and Gabriella. "You're welcome, by the way."
"You're still a git for prioritizing breakfast over us." remarked Katelyn, slinging her backpack over her shoulder before heading out of the door, Gabriella and Thea following minutes later.
"Come on, let's go." Florence beckoned, the two running out of the commons.
"We have Herbology for first period, by the way!" Nicolai added, "Xander has Transfiguration."
Florence groaned, "Oh fucking hell, Nic, that's all the way down the greenery!"
"What? You're going to blame me for how our time table's arranged too?"
