                                                   *Terrance POV*

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Terrance rolled over in bed and looked at his alarm clock: 4:30 am. He groaned, it was Monday, the first day of the school year.

"Man, I wish that stupid teacher hadn't caught me putting the cocaine in that snob, Victoria's, bag. I could be graduated by now, and I would not have to go to school." He thought, as he threw on his best wrangler's and long sleeve blue plaid shirt.

From his basement room, he could hear his mom cooking, and from the smell of it, it she was cooking bacon.

"YUM! I'd better hurry with the chores so I can get to that bacon!" He thought as he ran upstairs, and into the kitchen.

"Mornin mom. Where's dad?" Terrance greeted.

"He's out milking the cows. Today you need to gather the eggs, feed the horses, and throw some hay to the cattle. It's getting really cold out there and the grass is dying, so we need to start feeding the cows again." his mom spoke quickly.

"Okey, dokey ma. Just don't let the bacon get cold while I'm out." Terrance said.

"Okay," his mom laughed. "I won't."

Terrance went into the mud room, slipped on his cowboy boots and his old, faded jean coat before running out the door. He headed to the grain shed first and grabbed a couple of buckets of feed for the horses, that he easily lifted with his muscled arms. He carried straight to the horse barn, which was located right next to the milk cow's barn, where he could hear his dad whistling.

"Good morning Valery." He greeted his palomino mare. "Hi Camie, Brownie Point, Calvary, and Jessie." He said to the rest of the horses.

Camie was his mom's horse, a black three year old filly, Brownie Point was his dad's five year old gelding, Jessie was a chestnut broodmare, who was four, and Calvary was a buckskin stud, who was eight, all of which were quarter horses. Terrance gave all of them good, healthy meals of molasses grain, then he filled their water-trough, and opened their stall doors to the pasture behind the barn.

Beep, beep! Yikes! If it was already five o'clock he would need to hurry. He hurriedly climbed the ladder to the loft and dropped a big hay bale down the chute to the pasture, then slide down the chute behind it. He catapulted over the fence and dashed to the feed shed. This time he emerged with two big sacks full of cattle grain. Terrance put them into the golf and speed to the field where the cattle were. He dumped the grain into another trough beside the water trough.  He looked and saw that they needed more hay, so he jumped back in the golf cart and speed back to the grain shed. He climbed up the ladder to the loft and pushed another hay bale down the chute. He slide down the chute after it again and threw it in the golf cart, then drove back to the cattle field. He threw the hay onto the ground beside the water trough.

Terrance had just finished a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, and grits when the bus beeped in the driveway. He grabbed his backpack and ran out the door.

School had just let out and Terrance was putting away his books in his locker, when he heard a group of girls giggling. One was bragging about how pretty she was. He scowled in disgust: If there was one thing he hated, it was bragging. Just then that very girl approached him.

“Hey, do you have a girl?” She asked boldly.

“No, and I don’t intend to.” Terrance frowned.

“Oh. Well I’m Kelly. What’s your name?” Kelly said a little bit thrown off by Terrance’s last statement.

“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Terrance said, as he slammed his locker door and began to walk away.

A girl bumped into him.

WOW! She’s beautiful! He thought as she apologized.

“No big deal. Hi, I’m Terrance.” He smiled at her.

“I’m Beth, nice to meet you.” Beth said, returning the smile.

Her smile is so nice. Thought Terrance.

“Uh, do you want me to carry your book bag?” He said the first thing that came to his mind.

“Um, no thanks. I’m just walking over there.” Beth pointed.

Terrance did not hear the rest of what she said, because he was to busy thinking how stupid it had been to ask that. He hit his head with his hand.

“OW!” he exclaimed, rubbing that spot.

He then walked out just in time to get onto the bus.
