Chapter 16

"No." She said. "Is he?" 

I nodded.

"I got pregnant with you, when I was 17. Your father's career had just kicked off." I said.

"Why did you leave him?" She asked tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Your father was always busy Scarlet. He was never there for me when I needed him. He wasn't even there during your birth." I said remembering when I had told Selena to text him she was born.

He came back for a week only to sign the birth certificate, then left back on tour. 

"He didn't ask for you that day, he only came to sign it. He didn't even look at me." I said tears running down my cheeks. "But i'm giving you the chance to meet him. If you don't want to, i'll sell the meet and greet tickets, but you are going to his concert." 

"No I want to meet him." She said.

"Alright baby." I said.

I sighed as she stormed up to her room. I wasn't going to tell him. I wasn't even going to the meet and greet. I was only going to the concert. Maybe he won't even remember me.

Scarlet's P.O.V

"Uh what's your question?" Shawn, my dad, asked a random girl.

"Um what do you think of your old music compared to now?" She said.

"What do I think of my old music compared to now. Um well it really hasn't changed all that much I guess what matters most is that people can still have fun and sing along to my old music. You know they can still remember every lyric and how it made them feel the first time they heard it." The girl nodded in understandment. I raised my hand for the 100th time. "Yes?" He said pointing at me.

"This is going to be really random but do you remember your best friend from high school? Her name was Iris?" I asked. His eyes widened.

"Actually yeah I do remember her. She was my best friend that I lost contact with." He said. "How do you know her?" 

"She's my mom." I said shrugging. "She talks about you a lot, or well used to." 

He nodded as he went to chose someone else. But his eyes kept returning to mine through out the whole meet and greet. When it was picture time, I composed myself with Bell as we stood in line. Right before I went in, she hugged me.

"Good luck." I nodded.

I slowly entered and my eyes meet his. He looked back at me with wide eyes, more like shocked eyes. 

"A- um hi.... Scarlet." He said.

"How do you know my name?" I asked.

"Your mom told me she was going to name you that." I stood far from him not knowing what to do. "So your my dad."

"So your my daughter." He said. I ran at him and jumped on him as he picked me up and hugged me. "I'm sorry." He said repeatedly.  

"It's okay Shawn." I said.

"You can call me dad from now on Hun." He said. He put me down. "Is she waiting for you out there?" He asked.

"No but she is coming to the concert." I said. 

"This is going to the first time in 14 years we see each other." He says. "That reminds me, your birthday was a few days ago no?" 

I nodded.

"Happy late birthday. Um hold on." He walked towards one of his guards and grabbed something. "Here use this for merch." He handed me his debit card.
