As pathetic as it seems, I spent most of the day waiting to hear back from Jimin. He was supposed to tell me when he was ready to get his phone back.
Excited, nervous, and terrified, I waited by the phone for word back. When he got back to me finally, it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for.
Jungkook: What's wrong?
Jimin: My mom is old, and of course the first thing she does to me when I land off the plane is command me to do chores.
Jungkook: Lol. Aw, that's what sons are for, right?
Jimin: I'm headed to her condo now, she just got a new bed frame from IKEA and wants me to set it up ugghhh
Jungkook: It's okay. We can meet later this evening if you want?
Jimin: That's the bad news. I know my mum, she will make me do a hundred more tasks while I'm there. The bed frame is just the tip of the iceberg. Can we meet tomorrow? :o
I sighed, resting myself back into my computer chair. I twirled a full circle before letting out another sigh and plopping the phone onto the desk.
I couldn't deny that I was a little bummed – actually, I was really bummed. I glanced over at the clock. It was already 7PM, I guess asking Jimin to meet later would be a bit odd. I didn't want to sound too clingy.
Jungkook: Of course, we can meet tomorrow. I don't mind.
Just then I remembered one crucial detail: I had promised Namjoon that I'd go to the Stampede with him.
Every year our city holds what's called the Calgary Stampede. It's a travelling expedition that is basically one large fair, or carnival. There's hundreds of rides, games, performers, and every kind of food you could imagine.
People from surrounding cities come to the Stampede every year around the same time to experience all of the fun, because it's only on for ten days before it moves to another city.
Namjoon and I had been going together since we were kids, even though it wasn't all that much fun for us anymore. It was tradition, I couldn't bail on him.
Jimin: Sweet! I'll see you tomorrow then. I'll text you, k?
Jungkook: Shit. I forgot, I'm hanging with Namjoon tomorrow. I sort of promised...
Jimin: Oh... okay. It's cool. The day after then, maybe?
My heart started to sink a bit lower and lower, realizing that I wouldn't get to see Jimin as quickly as I'd like.
Jungkook: Don't worry, we will figure out a time that works best for us.
Jimin: O.K. I'm getting to my mom's place now. Wish me luck!
