Jane POV
I stood at the edge of the woods waiting for Carlos. The trees started casting weird shadows and I begged for Carlos to hurry.
I sat down on a log, my pale blue dress ruffling. I heard the bark of a dog. Dude.
I stood up and watched as Dude came around the corner of the bleachers, Carlos a few feet behind him.
"Dude!" I shouted opening my arms. He barked again and ran up to me. I gently picked up Dude and rocked him in my arms.
Carlos ran up laughing and took Dude from my hands to set him to lay on the grass.
Carlos gave me a light hug. I stepped away and sat back down on the log. Carlos darted his eyes to the left looking at the trail that went into the woods.
"You wanna go?" I asked standing up and teaching my hand out. I pulled Carlos up, more like Carlos stood up and I was just holding his hand.
We walked into the woods with Dude behind us. Carlos would occasionally stop and give Dude a snack. I would giggle when Dude would talk back.
We gin apt pushed through a few overgrown bushes and into a clearing. There was a wooden gazebo.
"It's beautiful I exclaimed. Carlos ran ahead of me and stood on the steps of the gazebo.
I walked around in excitement then followed Carlos up the steps.
He had a picnic layer out. I sat down, fluffing the bottom pf my dress pit to cover my legs.
I picked up a bagel and took a big bite of it. "This is delicious!" I exclaimed.
Carlos was picking at a bag of chips. "We have drinks if you get thirsty," he said opening up a basket and pulling out two water bottles. I reached out to grab it, and accidentally grabbed his hand.
He looked up at me and I blushed. Carlos pulled his hand away and I opened the water bottle to drink from it.
A half hour later we were packing up. Carlos varied Fide the rest of the way and I carried the basket.
We walked back down the trail. The shadows of the trees weren't scary any more, they were beautiful, flowers blooming, Carlos knew me so well to take me out here, it was perfect.
