Carlos POV
I put my tourney helmet on and ran to catch up with Jay. He patted me on the back and we walked to the field.
I grabbed my stick, or whatever you call it, and got into position. It was just practice, but it meant everything. I slid my helmet off for a few seconds and spotted Jane with the group of cheerleaders. Still not ready for flips, but good enough for me. I winked and she waved back.
"Go Fighting Knights!" She shouted in support. I'd never seen Jane so happy Ryan when she's with the group of cheerleaders.
Audrey was in the front and was showing off her flipping skills.
I was so zoned out I almost didn't hear the whistle blown. I flipped my helmet down and ran to the right, Jay to the left running in the opposite direction.
He clashed with the other team and gained the ball. I ran across the Fire Zone and waited on the other side, hopping back and forty of the balls of my feet.
Jay threw the ball up and swung it to me. I jumped up and caught it. "Go Carlos!" I heard Jane shouting.
I raged forward and found Jay to my left. I tossed the ball to him and stopped until the mob of kids trying to catch Jay came into view. I had to hold them off.
The buzzer sounded, meaning Jay had scored the winning point. We all met in the center of the field and gave out high fives.
I left everyone else who were planning g to go out and get the traditional victory pizza.
I walked up to Jane, dropping my gear beside me on the grass. She came running to me. I opened my arms ready to catch her.
She ran into me and i wrapped my arms around her neck. "You did great," she said, her voice muffled in my shoulder. I never wanted to let go.
