Chapter 13

I smirked as the sun went down.

It was all too easy because, despite us being in a gang, both Mrs. Anz and Drake were sleeping. I would've thought they had been awake to at least twelve o'clock, but nope!

I didn't care, though. All this made it easier to prank Drake, and get back at him for kissing the girl. Slowly, I crept around the house, scared to death I'd be caught. I kept opening random doors, hoping to find the bathroom.

I only remembered not to open the first door to the right; I couldn't afford to open the door to Drake's room yet, that was for later. I laughed gently under my breath... Drake would get what he asked for.

I pulled out my phone and texted Axel, telling him to get to the house... Now.

I sighed when I opened the last door on the right, revealing the bathroom.

It had to be the last one I checked, because with my luck, it would never be the first or second, or even third. Always the last.

I opened a drawer which had shaving cream.

I could work with that.

I looked around, picking up some toothpaste, pills, and a razor. I smirked, I could definitely work with what I now had. This was way too easy, and I liked that.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and jumped, yelping.

"Shhh! Hide!" I heard Axel whisper, and the warmth I hadn't realized had been there was gone as Axel ran off.

I darted out the door and ran to my room. As soon as I was in, I heard the creak of a door open and I heard some shuffling and a grunt. Drake had been awakened.

Dammit.

Now we'd have to wait longer for him to fall asleep properly. I sighed and crept to my bed, laying down atop the covers. I heard a small creak when I lay down, but I figured the sound of my fan on would cover it. I was wrong.

"Jayden?" I forced myself to stay still and not react to Drake's voice.

I heard shuffling once more and felt a hand on my face. I stiffened.

"Jayden, why are you awake?"

"I was thirsty." I said, the excuse popping out as I opened my eyes. I couldn't even see Drake, since he sort of blended in with the dark abyss that consumed my room since it was nighttime. I heard him sigh before he shuffled out, too tired to continue questioning me.

I waited until I heard the creak of his door once more, and waited for ten more minutes, judging from my clock atop my bedside table. Slowly, I got up, managing to not make a single noise as I made my way to my door.

I met with Axel, who was just outside the door. He smiled at me before holding up a bag. I tilted my head and he leaned over to whisper to me.

"I brought some ice, it's in the cooler I just held up. I also brought shaving cream." I nodded in understanding, before we both made our way to Drake's room. Slowly, I edged open the door, stopping it just before it let out the loud creak.

I slowly edged through the doorway, looking back to see Axel do the same.

He put the ice down beside Drake's bed, taking a can of shaving cream out of his pocket and uncapping it. I saw him flash me a thumbs up before soundlessly emptying the can out onto Drake's bed. I handed him my bottle of shaving cream, not trusting myself to be silent. I watched as he uncapped my bottle, then did something else before, once again, soundlessly dumping the contents of the bottle onto Drake's once-clean bed.

I knew now we had to be quick. If Drake rolled over onto the shaving cream now, we'd be dead. I pulled out my toothpaste from my back pocket, twisting the cap and pulling it off. I pulled off the little tab from the mouth of the bottle before emptying the contents on Drake's boxers.

I forced myself not to look at the boxers, only slightly embarrassed. Next, I pulled out the razor, and realized my mistake.

I looked at Axel, who flashed me a smile before taking the razor out of my hands. He grabbed a handful of shaving cream and gently smeared it onto Drake's eyebrow. I tensed as Axel brought the razor to his eyebrow. I heard the small zzzzt as Axel got rid of an eyebrow.

Drake groaned, and Axel swiftly brought the razor away from Drake's face.

We looked at eachother, listening for Drake's breathing to settle once more. It did. I reached into my pocket once again, wondering how I hadn't been caught when Drake walked into my room.

I brought out the pills, and scattered them all over Drake's carpeted floor. Axel slowly unzipped his cooler, and dumped the ice onto Drake's chest.

Drake bellowed, and I was out the door before Axel could even dump the ice down.

I ran down the hallway, hearing footsteps behind me. I ran into my room and didn't bother being silent as I leaped into my bed, forcing the covers up around me.

I heard someone run in after me, and my bed rose a tiny bit. I jumped off, pretending to be astounded or shocked when I heard Drake's bellow. I ran out the door, and saw Drake standing in the hallway.

The boy was covered in shaving cream and toothpaste, and I saw ice falling as he prowled towards me.

"Was this you!? Are you seriously that angry at me for kissing Talia!?" I looked at him, shocked he'd announced he'd kissed her.

"Wh-"

"Here's the thing, Jayden. She was there when you weren't, and we were dating before you came along. Just because you are in the picture now, that doesn't mean I can't kiss her and be with her. God, why do you have to be such a bitch sometimes?!" Drake yelled.

I jerked backwards, tears flowing freely down my face when he said the last part. I remembered when we had been the best of friends... And now... I couldn't handle it. I looked at him, and he looked like he regretted what he'd said, but still... He'd said it.

"You said..."

"I know what I said, okay? Sometimes I speak out of turn. Just leave." I looked at him with wide eyes, he kept hurting me, and I kept thinking he'd stop... But he'd never stop.

Without thinking, I turned on my heel and walked away, pretty much running down the stairs and out the door, almost tearing it off its hinges. The tears were flowing freely, now.

I had no idea where to go. I didn't know where my parents lived, and I had no clue where Axel was... All I could do was keep walking. I wondered if Mrs. Anz had seen what Drake had done and said, and all I could think was...

"Jayden!" I heard a boys' voice, and I felt my hope rising as I turned around, but all I saw was Axel, the brown haired boy.

"Hey." Was all I said, and I cringed at the pain that I could hear in my voice.

"Follow me. I sleep in the Dozeri's basement, since they're my... Adopted parents." I nodded, no longer wanting to speak. I just wanted to sleep and be given a momentary break from my pain.

I followed him to a cyan house, and he went past it into the backyard, opening a black door for me. I thanked him quietly, and he replied just as quietly.

I allowed him to lead me to a room, and I gratefully fell atop the bed, asleep in a matter of seconds.
