An hour had easily passed with the three of them sitting in Evie's room while Jay explained exactly what he had done to infuriate his and Mal's enemy enough to result in them having to hide for the rest of the day. If she were being honest, Evie had tuned out ten minutes into the explanation, having no interest in rivalry shenanigans, but it was difficult for her to keep to her own thoughts with how often the two laughed hysterically. She found it ridiculous really, how people could laugh at the same things they hid from, but she didn't comment on any of it, choosing to remain on the duo's good side – well, as much as she could while having a life-changing secret with one of them.
Once again, Evie was glad that her mother never spent her time at their house during the day, well aware that she wouldn't approve of her involvement in such situations. However, when she noticed Jay standing and making a move toward her bedroom door that reasoning changed drastically.
"I've got something I need to do," Jay spoke as he opened the door, looking over to Evie. "Thanks for hiding us, I promise you won't be dragged into our shit again."
"Thank you, Jay," Evie replied, nodding her head in acknowledgement as he left, closing the door behind him.
Silence immediately washed over the room, thick as wood, and Evie debated actually going through with an idea that would surely bring excess consequences crashing down on her. Before she could even turn her head, however, Mal had gotten to her feet as well, shuffling in place for only a moment before making her way to the door as well.
Evie decided to take her chance.
"Do you remember what happened the last time you were here?" She asked the question in a casual tone, making it sound almost as if she were bored.
Mal stopped in her tracks, her hand on the doorknob, her gaze on her hand. That's when Evie really pushed her luck. Getting to her feet, Evie made her way over to Mal slowly, making sure her every step practically echoed throughout the small room until she came to a stop just behind the girl, leaving barely any space between them.
"Do you remember how late you left despite having come over during the afternoon?" Evie continued, only this time she coated her voice in honey, watching as Mal's body moved with the heavy breath she took.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Mal replied with a clenched jaw, her voice barely reaching a whisper.
"Oh, but you do," Evie husked, leaning further into Mal's back and pressing her lips to the girl's ear, the only thing keeping their skin from coming into contact being purple hair. "You and I both know that we shared the best night of our lives that night. But let's add onto that sentence, shall we?" She nipped playfully at the girl's ear, smirking as she watched her shift with the shiver that ran down her spine. "Let's add, 'so far'."
"That's not a smart idea," Mal whispered almost breathlessly, her hand slipping from the doorknob so that she could press her palm into the door instead.
"Well, that's obvious," Evie laughed lightly, taking the girl's inability to leave as a positive sign and daring to snake her arms around her petite waist from where she remained behind her. "But it wasn't a very intelligent idea the first time, was it?"
"Fair point," Mal's jaw was still clenched, but Evie could physically feel the restraint leaving her body.
"Come on, M," Evie purred seductively, brushing her fingers along the girl's abdominal muscles and groaning lightly in her ear for show. "I thought I wasyours."
"I fucking hate you," Mal breathed out as she turned in her arms.
Evie didn't even have the time to register what had been said before plump lips were working furiously against her own, fingernails scratching her jaw as the girl grabbed hold of her face to bring her down lower, limiting the amount the shorter girl had to be on her toes. Humming in approval, Evie tightened her grip around Mal's body only to find her arms being pulled from around the girl seconds before she was harshly pushed onto her bed.
