Elena walks up the stairs with breakfast for Alaric. She knocks on his door and Damon answers it.

"Morning sunshine." He greets.

"Hey, how's Alaric?" She tries to walk in but Damon blocks her way.

"Indecent. But fine."

"So then, does that mean there were no issues last night?"

"Nope. Slept like a baby, woke up Alaric. No head minds about dead council members."

"Then why do I feel like you're hiding something from me?"

"Well, maybe because you're being all paranoid and control freaky. What'd you bring me?" Damon takes the bag from her and sniffs it. "Ooh, chocolate muffins. You know what they say; a way to a psycho killer's heart is through his stomach."

She takes the bag back. "They're not for you."

"Fine. Keep convincing yourself you're still mad at me. But sadly, Ric's gonna have to miss Elena time today. You know lockdown and all."

"Just take it and give it to him and tell him that I miss him, okay?" She hands him the bag of muffins.

"With pleasure."

"Please."

He starts to shut the door. "Have a great day, thanks for coming by."

"Dam-"

He closes the door and walks over to Alaric and Stefan, who are standing by a saw with the Wickery Bridge sign. He listens to Elena leaving. "Walking down the stairs, opening the front door, and she's gone."

Alaric turns the saw on and begins to saw the sign.

Rebekah paces in front of Trinity. "So this...Quickening. It'll help you become immortal?"

"If I make it through the trials, yes." She says.

Rebekah stops and looks at her. "What are the trials?"

"I don't know. I guess it's different for every elder. What's been happening to me so far is just the opening show. I just need to live to see the rest."

"What? What does that mean?"

Trinity sighs. "The hallucinations, hearing and seeing people who aren't there, the sleepwalking...it's a test of will. Seeing how strong I am."

"What happens if you fail?"

"If I fail, it mostly means that I killed myself, went completely insane and couldn't bring myself back, or someone killed me because loss all control."

"Do your friends know about this?"

"Yeah."

"Then why aren't they helping you? Not once have I seen anyone other than James showing the least bit of concern for you, and he was compelled."

"They have other things to deal with."

"Like protecting the doppelgänger. Why does the value of her life outweigh yours?"

"It's not like that."

"That's exactly what it's like." Rebekah tells her. "Even Katherine knew that."

Trinity looks at her. "What? What do you mean?"

Rebekah sighs. "Katherine wrote me a letter before she left town. She compelled a boy to deliver it to me once I was un-daggered. I only got it after your friends tried to kill us all. In the letter; Katherine told me that no matter how much Stefan cares for you, he will never choose you over Elena."
