Mark was sitting on the bench beside his window, staring at the stars. He hadn't seen Jack for a solid four months, and he was nearly insane. He was horrible with long distance. The moon and stars were the only things that kept him sane. Knowing that somewhere, Jack was looking at those exact same things. The exact same night sky. Mark could've sworn their eyes met between the two. Right on a single shooting star.
"I wish for Jack." Mark said out loud to himself.
He lifted his gaze to his bookshelf. He saw the scrapbook of letters and pictures of the two of them. Jack had given it to him the last day they saw each other. Mark got choked up when he opened it. He knew Jack's biggest fear was that something would happen to them and their relationship over the summer. Mark would always try to assure Jack nothing would happen, but he wasn't too sure himself.
Neither of them had ever been in a relationship that lasted this long. They just hit nine months. Mark only thought they'd last nine days. He remembered how they'd met and where he was when he first learned about Jack. He was at a McDonalds with his best friend, Wade. They had both met Jack at the same time. If it wasn't for Wade, Mark and Jack might not have ever met. Mark couldn't even think about the happiness he would've missed out on.
Jack has made these past nine months something Mark would never forget. They both couldn't wait for them to be old enough to move out. Just six more months. Jack's parents didn't approve of them seeing each other.
"You kiss your boyfriend in a homophobic household one time!" Jack would always say.
And to that, Mark would laugh.
They might have been to young to know what love was, but they knew they had it. And they knew they had it early on. Jack thought he came on too strong when he said the first "I love you" after only one month, but thankfully, Mark felt the same way.
Jack knew he loved Mark after two weeks of them going out. After the "Angelina Jolie" incident. That's when Jack knew he wanted to marry Mark. It's the small things that make you realize the bigger ones.
Mark closed his eyes and sang softly to the stars. The way he would sing Jack to sleep. All Of The Stars by Ed Sheeran was one of their favorite songs. Mark sang every Ed Sheeran song he could think of, in the slim chance Jack ever heard him. He stayed there for hours and hours each and every nigh for the past four months.
Jack didn't have his phone, so he couldn't tell Mark about how much danger he was in. Living with his parents.
Jack could've promised Mark he was looking at the night sky, if his parents weren't so angry at him.
Jack should've run away when he was still alive.

Mark walked into school on that first day, and immeaditly something was wrong. He didn't see Jack. The principal ushered all of the students to their classrooms and went to make an announcement over the P.A system.
"Sean William McLoughlin will no longer be joining us. Some of you knew him, others didn't. But nonetheless, he was murdered by his parents this summer."
Mark bolted up from his chair. He screamed and ran out of that classroom and out of that school.
Mark knew nothing else except he was going to be with Jack.
In life, or in death.
