— EveI puffed my hair out of my face as I stuck my spoon into my bowl and bringing the ice cream up to my mouth, I let the cool strawberry flavour wash over my tongue. My eyes fixed on my phone as I licked the ice cream off my spoon, there was nothing exciting in my Instagram feed so I just turned off my phone and tossed it aside.
"I'm bored." I complained, looking over at Sarah who was stabbing her ice cream with her spoon. As our eyes met, she brought the spoon up to her mouth with a shrug.
"Well, what film do you wanna watch then?" she asked, licking the chocolate from her lips before resting the spoon back in the bowl. I shrugged, tossing her the remote before picking up another spoonful of ice cream.
"How about Split?" Sarah suggested.
"Is that the one with James McAvoy in?" I responded, bringing the spoon up to my mouth and when she hummed in response, I nodded my head and Sarah started the film.
It was then that the door clicked open and Simon and Cal came out of Cal's bedroom. My eyes averted away from them and towards the TV as they made their way into the front room.
"You want a drink, Si?" Cal asked, moving into the kitchen. It was then that the sofa creased next to me and turning my head, I met eyes with Simon before I quickly turned my head away again to focus on the movie.
I pushed down the temptation to push him away from me but I didn't want to risk spilling my liquifying ice cream all over my front which would give Simon a perfect opportunity to poke fun at my misfortune.
Cal tossed Simon a Coke before plonking himself down next to Sarah. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, resting his head on hers.
"Should we do that to?" Simon whispered, cracking open his Coke. I grimaced, eating another spoonful of my ice cream.
"In your dreams, Minter." I whispered back, wiping the corner of my lip with my thumb as I took a quick glance over at him. He smiled, taking a long loud sip of his Coke before placing it back down on his knee.
For majority of the movie, I managed to ignore him and his loud slurping. I had finished my ice cream, the bowl was resting in between my hands as I bit the corner of my lip as I tried to watch what was happening in the movie. It was then that I saw out the corner of my eye, Simon took the spoon from my bowl and scooped up the remaining liquid from it and brought it up to his mouth.
"You're grim." I hissed, watching him in disgust as he licked the ice cream off the spoon.
He raised a brow, "Why?"
"That's been in my mouth."
"And?"
I frowned, turning away from him again and focusing my attention on the TV screen. He placed the spoon back in the bowl with a clatter and yet again a disgusted look came onto my face.
"Don't put it back in the bowl!" I whisper-yelled, pulling the spoon out and handing it back to him. He took it, looked at it before looking back up at me.
"What am I supposed to do with this?" he asked, looking between the spoon and me.
"Hold it, maybe?" I whispered, "I don't want your germs contaminating my ice cream."
"There's nothing left for it to contaminate." he responded, "You've eaten it."
"What if I want more?"
"Get a different spoon." he suggested, a light smirk on his lips. I rolled my eyes, crossing my legs over and turning away from him.
"You're a child." I hissed, "Keep your fucking spoon then."
"I'm the child? I didn't label you as a hypocrite, Eve Britton." he returned, his eyebrow raising. I tutted, placing the bowl on the table in front of me.
It was then that the front door clicked open and turning my head, a light smile came onto my face. Callum gave me a wide smile, pulling his hood down before he came over and sat down between Sarah and I.
"Hey Callum." I greeted, returning his smile and completely ignoring Simon who had nodded in greeting in his direction.
"You down to club tomorrow?" Callum asked with a smile, as deep down he already knew my answer. I nodded with a grin, I couldn't turn down a club at the best of times and a chance to drink, it wasn't likely I turned that down either.
"Can I come?" Simon asked.
"No." I mouthed at Callum, but in a sudden count of betrayal he nodded his head.
"Course." Callum said, and even though I wasn't looking, I knew Simon's face was plastered with that stupid cocky grin.
"Is anyone else coming?" I asked. Usually, when Callum and I went clubbing, we separated as he usually tried to flirt with someone and I usually stayed at the bar until I dragged myself onto the dance floor. In all honesty, I wanted to know if I was going to be stuck with Simon for the whole night.
"Will is coming." Callum stated, rubbing the back of his eyes with his hand.
I cocked my head to the side, "Will who?"
"Lenney." Callum said, "He's a lad. You'll like him."
Will Lenney, whoever he was. He was about to become my saviour.
