- EveDrumming my fingers against my leg, I stared out of the window and up at the sky as I sat in the back of a taxi in the middle of London. I brushed my fingertips upwards over the soft material of my pink skirt, letting out a soft huff as the taxi driver and I waited in traffic.
It was now the thought of the situation I was in occurred to me, I was heading to Simon's birthday party. The whole aspect of a birthday wasn't what bothered me, it was the fact that Simon had invited me to his birthday party. Most of my friends were going, I knew that, but when he called me and invited me to the party, I was a little stunned. He'd said it was nothing big, just a little get together with his mates and when I asked why he was inviting me, he had replied with something about Callum and Sarah but I had deducted that that was a lie but I let it slide and said I'd be there.
The car jolted forward, snapping me out of my daze and I focused my eyes forward again. The taxi driver met my eyes in the rear view mirror and he gave me a sympathetic smile, I returned it before slouching back in my seat and fixing my eyes back on my phone.
We began to drive out of London, heading in the direction of the house and the car was beginning to pick up speed again instead of going at an achingly slow rate like it had done a few minutes ago. I glanced over at my things, a bottle of wine, my phone and Simon's neatly wrapped gift. In all honesty, I had no idea what to get him so I'd just bought him some chocolate and I prayed he'd be grateful for it because I knew the rest of the boys would shower him in extravagant gifts but I had never got Simon a birthday present before or any present for that matter so I was a bit stuck on what to get him.
The car came to a halt and I glanced out the window to see the house in sight, the taxi driver turned round and gave me a smile "That'll be £12.30 please, Miss."
I handed him the exact amount of money, grabbing my things and clambering out of the car and making my way up towards the house. I ran my fingers through my hair before reaching up to knock on the door, I hugged Simon's present to my chest as I awaited my knock to be answered. I was just about to raise my hand to knock again when the door swung open.
"Eve, hey." Will greeted, running his fingers through his hair as he welcomed me inside. I smiled at him, wiping my feet on the mat before entering the house. Closing the door behind me, Will gave me the once over before scratching the back of his neck with his fingers almost as if he didn't really know what to say.
"How have you been?" I asked, placing my purse on the side and sliding my phone into my skirt's pocket.
"Good, ta'." he said, sticking his hands in his pockets. I gave him a nod before walking towards the living room with him close behind me, I looked around the room to spot nearly all of the Sidemen there, Emily, Katie, Freya, Sarah, the two Cal's, Chris and some various other people I hadn't actually met before.
"Eve!" Callum half-yelled, the slur of his voice gave it away that he was drunk and a small smile came onto my face. His yell seemed to have caught the attention of Simon, because he acknowledged my presence with a nod. Callum had already scrambled over to me, flinging his arms around me tightly and almost picking me up in a hug. I chuckled, patting him on the back before pulling away.
"I'm just going to go give Simon his present then I'll be back." I said, moving away from Callum and Will and making my way over to Simon. He looked up from where he was sat with Chris and Tobi. Our eyes locked and I handed his present to him and I pressed my lips together to suppress a smile.
"Happy birthday." I murmured before making my way back over to Will and Callum. Callum slung an arm around my shoulder, looking over his shoulder quickly at Sarah. I copied him, waving at her and giving her a smile and she returned my wave and smile before continuing to talk to Freya.
"Do you want a drink?" Will asked, I looked back at him and held up my hand before pushing Callum's arm off of me.
"It's cool. I'll get it myself." I said and Will nodded. The kitchen was filled with drinks and food and there were plastic cups and napkins scattered all over the counter. I picked up a cup, reaching for the Vodka bottle and unscrewing the cap.
"Better take it easy with that." a voice said, causing me to jump out my skin as I picked up the shot measure. I looked over my shoulder, meeting eyes with Simon as he reached for another beer.
"Like you're one to talk." I answered, eyeing his beer as he pushed down the top and brought it up to his mouth. He rolled his eyes, taking a sip.
"Everyone knows I'm terrible with shots." he said before pointing at the Vodka bottle "And that stuff is lethal."
I hummed in response, pouring in two shots of Vodka before putting the lid back on. My eyes then scanned around for the Coke and Simon's eyes followed my own and he reached for it, handing it over to me.
I grabbed it from him, cocking my head to the side before unscrewing the lid and waiting for the fizz to die down a little.
"Vodka and Coke, that's what you drank at the club." Simon reminisced as he watched me pour the Coke into my cup. I nodded slowly as I watched the Coke fizz and I stopped pouring so it wouldn't over flow.
"I'm surprised you remember that." I said, looking up at him quickly as I continued to pour "Actually, I'm surprised you remembered anything."
"Was I really that drunk?"
"Mmhm." I said, screwing the lid back on the Coke "You asked me to stay with you whilst you fell asleep."
He chocked on his drink then, his cheeks going a soft red as he cleared his throat "I-I what?"
"You asked me to stay with you."
"What?"
"You asked me to stay with you. Sheesh, Simon, do I need to spell it out for you?"
It was then that he backed away from me, disappearing back into the living room. I raised my cup to my lips, frowning slightly as I turned on my heel to leave the kitchen. For some reason, i got the sinking feeling that I'd said something wrong and because of that something was going to happen.
