- Eve

It had been a week, a long work-filled week. My feet ached, my head hurt and I was beyond tired. Today, was a Friday and I was just about ready to collapse due to exhaustion. Dragging my feet, I pressed the button for the elevator and fished my house keys out of my pocket. As the doors slid open, my phone dinged in my pocket and I was quick to check the notification.

From: Mum at 20:42pm
Evelyn, you didn't tell us that Sarah was getting married, we just got an invite earlier today. We'll be coming down obviously, we're excited to see you darling xx

I groaned loudly throwing my head backwards and pressing the button for the fourth floor, I loved my parents with all my heart but it was obvious they'd bore half the guests with talk of their hotel and which wallpaper was best for your living room. Mum was an interior decorator and my Dad was a painter/decorator, they fell in love, got married, had two kids and decided to combine their talents and thus produce their hotel the 'The Snooze. Ever since I had been thirteen, I hated the hotel and the name and the fact my Mum had covered every hallway in the hotel with wallpaper decorated with sleeping cats.

To: Mum at 20:43pm
I'll see you there Mum, do you need a place to stay whilst you're here? X

I sent it, slipping my phone into my pocket and walking out of the elevator doors slid open. I swung my keys around my fingers, twisting the key in the lock and pushing my flat door open. I kicked my flats off my feet, picking up my post before nudging the front door closed with my hip. I flicked through my post, sighing softly before tossing it on the side to read later as none of them looked important enough.

I flicked on the light, walking towards the kitchen and switching that light on as well. I pulled open the fridge, scanning my eyes over the food I had to see if I could make anything for dinner. I sighed, slamming the door shut before reaching for my phone which had yet again dinged in my pocket.

From: Mum at 20:55pm
That would be lovely, your Dad and I would love to see your flat, the wedding is in October right? And have you heard from your brother? He hasn't answered any of my calls recently and we're worried about him xxx

My brother, Oliver, was three years older than I was and my parents constantly worried when he didn't answer his phone straight away. I hadn't spoken to him in a while but he was either busy or just didn't want to talk to his parents.

To: Mum at 20:58pm
No, I haven't heard from him. He's probably busy Mum x

I placed my phone back in my pocket, making my way into my bedroom and flopping down on my bed. I nestled my head in pillow, letting out a sigh and closing my eyes. And then it suddenly occurred to me where I was last weekend, I had been clubbing and then I had taken Simon home where I had stayed until he fell asleep. I left him a note but I doubt he read it, I had taken a cab home and had left it at that. He probably didn't remember a thing so my small, forced act of kindness would go unnoticed.

I let the thoughts pass, pulling myself up off of my bed and getting ready for bed. I pulled my clothes off, tossing them into the washing basket before I slipped my pajamas on. I took my phone with me to the bathroom, placing it on the toiler seat before wetting my hands and lathering up my face with facial wash in order to take off my makeup. I sighed, drying off my wet face before I grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste and sleepily brushed my teeth.

My phone dinged again, a text flashing up on the screen and still brushing my teeth, I leaned over to read it.

From: Freezy at 21:04pm
When did you get so friendly with Simon? I thought you two hated each other?

I rolled my eyes, sighing softly before I leaned back over the sink to spit out my toothpaste. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, placing my toothbrush back in its holder and the toothpaste back on the side before I grabbed my phone to reply to Callum.

To: Freezy at 21:05pm
He was shit faced drunk, I couldn't leave him to pass out on a bench in the middle of London. Will was panicking so I just took control, that's it. I was just doing the right thing.

I switched off the bathroom light, placing my phone on my bedside table before I walked to the front door and locked it. I stopped for a moment, looking around my flat before I switched off the light and made my way back to my bedroom. I shut the door a fraction behind me, moving over to my bed before clambering in and snuggling down under the covers. I gave my phone one last glance as I turned out my light, groaning loudly at Callum's response.

From: Freezy at 21:08pm
You're going soft, Eve and I think I
know why.
