Clinomania (n.) the excessive desire to stay in bed
I woke up to the sound of the neighbor's car hooting loudly and echoing throughout the street. Furious, I rolled onto my side to check the time on my cell phone.
Exactly 5:10.
I was almost an hour early for my day. Considering I went to bed in the am on a school night that one hour could have been my saviour for the entire week. On top of that I had forgotten to wrap my hair before I went to bed. #badhairday! Could a Monday ever be so beautiful?
In a way I blamed Dean for my sleeplessness. But thankfully I could avoid him for as long as possible.
I buried my face in my pillows and groaned loudly. After a few moments of cussing into my pillow I finally decided to tumble out of bed. Groggily I stumbled down the hallway. I could hear Ezra's loud snoring through his bedroom door. Oh how I was tempted to storm in there and rip the covers off of him. But I didn't. I was kind of hoping to make it to heaven one day.
After a lukewarm shower, I got back to my room and opened up my closet. For some reason it was a huge mess, I don't even own that many clothes! I cracked my knuckles before beginning the hunt for my uniform. The Oak Hills Academy uniform was a simple red tartan skirt partnered with a white shirt and a grey jersey with the school logo on it.
Seeing as I wasn't in the mood for breaking combs and brushes in my hair as well as an all-round arm workout, I decided to tie my hair down in an attempt to tame it. I slipped on a grey beanie to hide the rest of it that hopefully went with the school dress-code.
I slung my bag over my shoulder and buckled black pumps as I jogged down the stairs, careful not to wake anyone up. I scratched Riot behind his ears just before I left the house.
The streets were pretty empty considering it was still only 6am. There were a few joggers here and there, maybe a few people headed to the bus stop but apart from them I was alone. I didn't mind it though, I kind of enjoyed it.
Breathing in the fresh air, I looked up and admired the bright blue sky, the sun not in position quite yet. The wind commanded the leaves to dance as if it were a puppeteer and they were the puppets.
I crossed the road to the small strip mall, strolling past the other stores until the sign came into view.
Lizzy's was a café/bakery, one of my absolute favorites at that. It was not too popular so it was hardly ever crowded, the drinks and treats were heavenly and the owner was really cool and actually tolerated me and my friend's weirdness! The perfect place!
I could feel myself salivating at the thought of the Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookie that I had last week. I could already smell the pastries and freshly ground coffee beans which made my stomach growl. The pastries at Lizzy's were so damn good that they were worth killing for! Once I tackled a friend of mine and slapped him repeatedly on the floor while yelling at him just because he had stolen a spoonful off my chocolate cream pie. No lie.
I opened the door and walked in. The owner, Eliza who was still setting up the tables waved at me. The orange walls were just the same as I had left them, slightly cracked and vintage looking with ornaments and dishes hanging off them. To my surprise, Kira was already seated at the counter, her long dark hair braided into an up-do, sipping from a large takeaway cup. She noticed me standing by the door and waved me over excitedly. I shook my head but walked over anyway.
"Looks like I beat you here this time!" she declared triumphantly as I took my seat next to her.
"Sure does," I agreed before placing my order. I turned back to her, "What are you doing here so early?"
