Satisfaction-(n.) fulfilment of one's wishes, expectations, or needs
I set my books down in the library with a huff. Thanks to the one and only Dean Blanchard I was late to Math and Mrs Kennedy was not happy at all- thus landing me in lunchtime detention. Because of that my day got off to a rough start leaving me emotionally exhausted and ready to go home. The only reason I didn't ditch was because I didn't want to be kicked out of my house.
Currently I had a free period and it was finally time to catch a break. And by break I mean complete forgotten assignments along with the newly assigned ones because Oak Hills doesn't believe in breaks.
I snagged a seat in the back corner where I was sure I'd be almost invisible. The librarian was always watching me, waiting for me to slip up. I don't know what I did to her but it certainly gave her a bad impression of me. What made it worse was that she knew my father. Just as I pulled out a textbook, my phone buzzed from my bag.
I cringed and looked around, relieved to see that nobody had taken any notice to it. Discreetly, I pulled it out of my bag, putting it on silent before anything else. If it's anything this school has taught me, it's how to eat, sleep, talk and text without getting caught.
I opened my messages to find one from an unknown number.
Unknown: Hey, um, it's Dean
Speak of the devil. I rolled my eyes but saved his number anyway.
Me: How did you even get my number?
Dean: Um, yeah, ur fren Kira slipped it to me during geo.
Me: It's literally your first day, shouldn't you be paying attention?
Dean: What about you?
Me: Free period
There was a pause. I took the opportunity to check my surroundings for the librarian. She was still seated at her desk. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she had cameras installed just for me.
Dean: Touché
Me: Btw I'd very much enjoy it if you kept yourself out of my head
Dean: About that, I'm still sorry
Me: What where you doing in there anyway?
Dean: The first time was completely an accident I swear
Me: Sure it was
Dean: Still down to talk later?
Me: Well I can't at school coz you got me detention. I'll find you either afterwards or at the compound.
Dean: K.
I slipped my phone back into my bag and sighed. It all seemed to strange to be real. This was actually happening and it was happening to me. I wasn't alone. I couldn't help but imagine how many others there were like me, Dean and potentially Ezra.
Just a few minutes before the lesson bell rang, I got to my locker and quickly exchanges my books for the last period of the day. Mrs Kennedy was being surprisingly lenient. I met Kira in passing and she said nothing about giving Dean my number but I could feel it in the air that she was proud of herself.
For ninth period, I had French. I made my way into the classroom just as the bell rang. The first thing I noticed was two of my French buddies, Aiden and Jensen, arguing; both looking shaggy, their clothes and hair wet.
"What did you two get up to this time?" I sighed as I set my stuff down in my usual seat next to Delilah, Jensen's twin. This time she had her earphones in, not even bothering to listen to her brother and his friend's squabbles.
