damon ft. katherine part 2!

It had been several weeks since your mother, Katherine, and your boyfriend, Damon, had found out about your relationship with the other. They had learned to deal with it out of their mutual love for you but couldn't quite tamper down their mutual burning hatred for one another.
In the spirit of reconciliation, however, your mother had invited you and Damon to a nice restaurant for dinner, promising to pay and to be nice. You had accepted enthusiastically but your boyfriend seemed tense, his hand tightening around yours as soon as you entered the restaurant.
"Babe, relax," you told him. "She isn't gonna try anything here."
"Logically I know that," he muttered back, "but she's Katherine Pierce."
"She's my mom."
"Blech."
Katherine smiled genuinely at you once you reached your table and gave Damon a tight nod.
"How nice to see you...both! I took the liberty of asking the waiter to come over as soon as you both sat down, oh, here he is!"
You turned around to see a waiter that had obviously been compelled by Katherine, smiling at you and your mother and offering a glance towards Damon.
"Hello, I'm Ian, and I'll be taking your orders tonight. Could I start with the miss?" He grinned down at you.
"She'll have the salad," your mother said.
"Actually, no, she'll have the fish." Your boyfriend interjected.
"I'd love the pasta, thank you so much." You smiled at the waiter and felt two sets of glares on the back of your neck.
The rest of the evening continued like this, with your two warring loves trying to dominate the conversation and you casually signaling the waiter for more wine every hour or so.
The evening ended early, to your relief, and without a spectacle, as your mother left with a kiss on your cheek.
"You know, real estate is very cheap in Guatemala. Nice climate. Never have to see your mother ever again."
"Guatemala? Try harder, Damon, c'mon."
