I walk, pace rather, out of the convent, rosary in hand. I was going to miss him! Oh God!
I was ten minutes late due to my duty. And the head nun was constantly asking me questions about my whereabouts every morning.
I sit on my usual bench alone, it's quite early so there's hardly anyone around. I wait around for what seems like eternity. Why isn't he coming!
Suddenly I see him go through the corner and my heart races. He was wearing his usual, jogging pants, vest and his earphones intact. I wonder how music sounded like.
My face flushes as he draws nearer though I know he doesn't notice me. I watch his hair rise and fall with his every pace. He looks so glorious even if it's just for a few minutes.
I start to stand since he's almost near. But he stands, rather jogs in front of me forcing me to sit back on the bench. He smiles, the best smile ever seen in a face. I fidget nervously.
"Hi, " he begins a slight exhaustion in his voice. I stare at him blankly, paranoid. "You've been here for the past three weeks or something so I figured I should talk to you. "
He had noticed me! That somehow made me feel warm inside. I fight the smile threatening to appear on my face.
"Oh, "he frowns. He still looks amazing "Code of silence?"
I nod. Why out of all convents would my mother choose to abandon me in one that observes a code of silence! But I always assumed I was a talker.
He turns to leave. My mouth twitches.
"Wait! " I blurt out before I realise I've broken the most sacred rule.
