"It's too early for this!" I gripped the wood frame of my bed and kicked my captured legs.
"We need to beat the Puppies!" Meg Pulled on my left leg and tried to use her weight to pull me but she made no progress.
"So that means practice! We need to get smashing!" Yuki tugged at my other leg and grunted.
"No! It's too early! It's a free day! Means we can do whatever we want! Means sleeping in and napping!" I screeched. If they keep this up i'm going to be taller then yuki!
"We have 10 till the big games! And the boys already took the competition court. Bree is at the other one holding it for us! Now get up!" She did one final pull and my fingers lost their grip. With the release of tension the pair stumbled into Meg's bunk and i was half on my bed and half off.
"Uhg. fine but this early better only be today." Oh boy was i wrong. This new way of waking me up for the next five days. But eventually they would get me out of bed at 3 in the morning to practice till breakfast. I do have to say that i did not miss the prissy girls or my too perky counselors which i met at breakfast anyway. By day six i'm sure my bump burn was bruising. But we were improving. Well the ones needing improvement anyway. Aka me. During those days i was in a fog of just focus and thought, nothing else got past me except. Call it. Bump. Set. Repeat. Even Elliots forthcomings didn't phase me. In a way i was asleep until.
Ten days had past since we have arrived at camp and in 4 days was the sport olympics. Main event was volleyball. The two famed stars; Megan Rachel Powell Captain of the Tantrum Tigers and Liam Johnson Captain of the Cuddly puppies. But today as a break from all that, the kayak trip. We would still be getting up early but a three hour drive out to the boat launch sounded better than Bree's merciless drills. I snapped back to reality when i plopped in the back seat of the bus with my waterproof headphones and thoughts. Meg and yuki sat in front of me jabbering away about Fairy tale and Blue exorcist. I leaned my head on the window waiting for the bus to fill before we left for the trip.
Kayaking was one of my favorite activities. Just rowing down a peaceful river with my music and friends easily accessible. But as i was about to calmly slip into a nap. A familiar and odd backpack landed in my lap. It was army green with weathered patches and pins with funny and odd things on them. On one of the front pockets was a washed out name barely recognizable. But this was not the first time i had had this backpack thrown at me.
"Care to hold that cherry?" The owner of the backpack said plopping next to me in the seat that was meant to for one. As per the size.
I thrust the heavy sack off my lap and attempted to nudge him off the seat. "Your bag." I giggled as his butt hit the hard floor in a clunk. "This seat is meant for one."
Elliot adjusted his floppy fisherman hat and glared at me with a goofy smile. "Come on share. I know only children are selfish but sheesh."
"Selfish! Ha!" How dare he. "You're practically one yourself, mr.takes all my fries." i yelled. I gathered my stuff and stood up to find another seat. But from my eyes i saw every seat was full. I sat down abruptly as the bus driver turned on the engine. Elliot nonchalantly slid next to me. The seat was small and he was balancing on the edge. I removed my bag from the seat and slid over more. Dorks shouldn't have to suffer on my account. He saw my action and slid over more.
"And here i thought you had Nicki minaj's.."
I bopped him on the head and stared out the window. Watching the trees pass by. This would be a slow three hours. We sat in silence for about half an hour. Elliot and i have always enjoyed comfortable silence in each other's company. But being him.
