3 months later....
As expected the school year went off without a hitch. Meg decided to join the basketball team this year much to the sorrow the volleyball team which oddly i now head up along with my co-captain yuki. I talked to my Boss at the coffee shop who we refer to as JB into hiring on yuki. Bree left for college two weeks after camp after a wild send off party that i threw myself. She frequently video chats us after seminars. But for today it's Sunday and the coffee shop is having its slow lunch rush.
The ring of the Shoppe dorm chimed above the blasting music. I was assembling a cappuccino for Meg."Hey! Yuki i can't hear myself think, turn down the night-core!"
Yuki popped her head out of the backdoor. "Whatever you say boss!..... Hey Kawaii Elliot!"
I thought i was gonna drop the mug of coffee, my eyes grew wide and i felt like there were bouncy balls in my stomach. I took a deep breath and turned around. " Hey Elliot, what can i uhm, get you?" i felt like my heart was going to stop beating. Why was he in Bandon?!
He rubbed the back of his neck."You still make your own brownies?" He grinned.
"Yeah of course." I scooched over to the display case and grabbed the biggest one.
"can i get a regular black coffee too?"
"Yeah, may take a while though the machine is warming up." I put the brownie in a bag.
"That is fine, i got time." he leaned on the counter.
Seeing as there were no other customers around and Meg and Yuki were probably in the back arguing about what music we were gonna play. "So what brings you to my small town?"
"Actually i'm staying with my older brother while my parents are away on business for a year, and he said i should check up on his girls at his coffee shoppe for him."
"His girls?"
"Jay Bates owner of Ole Bean Coffee shop." He said
"So that's what JB Stands for!" HE WAS THE BROTHER OF MY BOSS?! Oh sweet cheese and crackers he heard everything!
"Yeah well..." he smiled and looked down. "He said you run it like a smooth engine while he is gone though."
"I try my best." I handed him his coffee. I tried to keep myself from shaking. How much did JB hear me say about Elliot recently?
"How much do i owe ya?"
"Nope, you're the boss's brother i would not think of it."
"Alright." he hopped up on the bar that lined one edge of the counter. He took a bit of brownie. " This is good."
"Yeah, fresh made this morning." This was a bit awkward. I mean should i ask about that girl?
We stood there in silence for a bit, i made some delivery orders. He put down his coffee and came around to the employee side of the counter. "Uhm, i don't."
He interrupted. "Listen at camp you said you were avoiding crushes and stuff like that right?"
"Well yeah. But."
He interrupted again. "Were you successful?"
"Yes...." he looked me dead in the eye. My heart was pounding. "No,"
"Who is it this time because i will."
This time i interrupted him. "Now you listen! I lost because i could not see what was right in front of my nose. Or right above it for your case. So if you're going to tell you just wanna be freinds that is fine. I am okay with it.You have that other girl right?"
He pulled me into a hug and lifted me onto the counter so we were face to face. "But i'm not cherry." he right there and then, kissed me i could still taste the black coffee and the brownie on his lips. Some people describe it as fireworks bursting in your head. For me it was like a rush of energy flooding my lips and flowing through my body. With Meg and Yuki in the other room and his hands on my hips the kiss seemed to last for only a moment. But when we touched foreheads and looked into eachother's eyes i knew "this" one was gonna last for a long time. Then again how would i know, this was a first and hopefully also my last crush.
The end.
Wait....
