i often wonder why
people romanticize
the bad things in life
like
sadness
abuse
death
and then i think
maybe it's because
they've spent so long
in the belly of the beast
they have nothing left
to do but make the awful
things sound pretty
but
if you wrap a gun
in sparkly paper and tie it
off with a ribbon will it
lessen its potential for
danger
if you put a corpse in a
wedding dress
will that make it seem
any less dead
if you cover a bruise with a
little bit of powder does
that mean the scars
will heal
if you close your eyes
standing on the edge of
a building will that make it
any less terrifying
if you grit your teeth together
and smile will that keep the
screams from pouring out
i often wonder
