Chapter 3
We was on our way to my grandma’s house in the yellow taxi, I had to admit it was kind of fun whistling to make a taxi come to you. The whole journey I was on my phone talking to Jacey. When we finally got there I saw my grandma sitting on her rocking chair on the porch. When she saw us she immediately got out of the chair and rushed our way.
“Oh, My, Gosh I can’t believe yawl’ are here” She said with the biggest smile I’d ever seen but at least I knew were my Mum got her smile from.
”Mama it’s so nice to see you again” Mum said hugging grandma( Mum originally lived in America but moved to London when she was 17 to get a better education, she always said she would come back to New York to live after me and Alia were older but she pulled us out of school unexpectedly ) .
“I know baby so how you been and yawl are here to stay right” She said taking our luggage from the taxi. I took my bags from the taxi and started to walk towards the house, Alia was hiding behind me because she didn’t know grandma like I did, I only knew grandma because I stayed with her after Mum and Dad split up because Mum was going through some things.
“Oh My Lord is that my baby Alisa, Com’er Darling” I immediately ran into my grandmas arms
“I missed you grandma” I said still hugging her,
“I missed you to Alisa” She said letting go of me and looking into my eyes. She looked away and saw Alia standing next to Mum
“And who is this little angel I’ve never seen but heard so much about” she said with her arms wide open. Alia ran up to grandma and gave her a hug.
I was still picking up my luggage and putting them inside when I stopped and heard someone calling my name,
“Alisa... Alisa”.
I looked around but saw no one so I continued to walk into grandma’s house. When I came out the house I heard someone calling me again but didn’t recognise the voice, when I turned around I saw a girl running towards me
“Alisa, oh my gosh girl I haven’t seen you in time how you been” she said still hugging me
“Umm I’ve been okay “I said looking at this girl strangely, truth was I didn’t know who this girl was but she knew me very well.
“So what, you don’t remember me Alisa, you used to come to my house every day and I’m just a stranger to you now” she said looking hurt
“Alisa don’t you remember Crystal she was like your New York best friend when you was staying here with me” grandma said putting the bags down and walking up to Crystal. She looked a bit familiar in the face but the rest was a complete blur, she was a caramel colour with red cheeks and pink lips, her hair was curly but hung just over her shoulders, she wore a pink and white jumper that read ‘Don’t Hate Me Cos’ I’m beautiful’ tight and fitted crop jeans and pink and white air forces.
“Oh, my ,gosh Alisa I went through all this trouble to remember you and you can’t even return the favour, you wrong for that” she said stepping back and putting her hand on her heart. When she said that I immediately remembered her, she was The drama queen Crystal that I loved when I was younger,
“You used to come and knock for me to come outside and play with you right, I stayed at your house once and we stayed up all night playing dress up with your dollies” As soon as I stopped talking she came up to me and started to hug me. When we stopped hugging and I introduced my family to Crystal and Crystal to my family. We went inside and I spent nearly the whole night chatting to Crystal.
“What school you going?”Crystal said grinning
“I’m going Monroe high, Why, What school do you go?” she started to scream
“I go Monroe high to, oh my gosh its gonna’ be so fun having you at the same school as me, we’re gon’ have so much fun” I’m so glad Crystal goes to the same school as me, now I won’t be alone.
“I’m so happy you’re going to the same school as me” I said hugging her
“Okay girls, Crystal your mama is here to come get you so say your goodbyes and Alisa will see you tomorrow” Grandma said peeking her head around my bedroom door (Well it wasn’t really my bedroom, we were just staying with grandma until all our stuff for our house was all ready, but our house was only 2 streets away so Mum could be near grandma in case of an emergency)
“Okay I’ll see you tomorrow make sure your up early cos’ I’m taking you to the mall” she said taking her phone from my study table and walking out, I followed her out and saw her Mum standing by the door with my Mum,
Crystals Mum is very pretty and Crystal looks exactly like her except she is more a chocolate colour and Crystal is a caramel colour.
“Oh so your Alisa, When Crystal was younger I heard so much about you” Crystal’s Mum said with a smile which ran straight across her face, I never met Crystal’s Mum before because when I was little her Mum was never at Crystals house when I was there, Crystal told me that her Mum was in Rehab because she had drug issues.
Crystal’s Mum had a short hair cut with a long side fringe which had streaks of blond and black, she was wearing jeans and red stilettos with a red top that Read ‘Your Looking Cos’ You Know I’m Pretty’ as well as all her accessories were red.
Crystal told me her Mum and Dad went out to dinner so she was staying with us till they got back , every time someone would tell me about their parents who were together I always got this feeling in my stomach that felt like someone had punched me in it.
“Oh is it” I said smiling and looking at Crystal
“Yeah, well c’mon Crystal we got to go your Dads waiting in the car” Crystal’s Mum said looking at her diamond framed watch.
“Okay well it was nice meeting you Mrs ....... um ......err” I stuttered
“Oh Mrs Young but you can call me Kelly” Crystal’s Mum Said smiling
“Oh okay it was nice meeting you Kelly” I said acting shy. Crystal’s Mum smiled at me then said bye to Mum and grandma then left with Crystal behind her making phone signs with her hands to me. As they left I went to my room sat on my bed.
“What a day” I said asking myself.
