Loki meekly nodded in response to Thor's words, not trusting his voice that would more than likely shake if he was to use it. He kept his head down as he alowed himself to be lead to the roof. Thor held his brothers arm and kept him close. He was gental. He somehow knew that he would do nothing. The other avengers stood back so only the two gods would be pulled into the next realm. When Thor called to Heimdall, a rainbow light did surround the brothers, but the same light soon returned over the other avengers. Peter yelped as he held onto Steve's arm to keep steady, the supersoldier stumbled slightly, Bruce and Tony both yelped and looked around with the most priceless faces of utter confusion, and Natasha and Clint gasped and repositioned their footing to stay standing. They all looked very confused.
"Um... I thought Thor established they were going alone." Tony stated in a rather questioning tone.
"He did. But Odin requested that if bring you here as well." Heimdall spoke in a rather monotone voice.
"So... the god of all gods litteraly just sent you to kidnap us. That's wonderful." Peter quipped sarcasticly, but the hint of amusement cut through his voice clearly.
"I suppose you could put it like that. You're presence is requested in the throne room. Thor is on his way to the dungeon to place Loki in his cell. It was rebuilt much faster than you estimated. Thor will meet you in the throne room. I trust you know the way?" Heimdall spoke, his lats sentence more of a statement than a question. Steve clicked into soldier mode. Something wasn't right.
"Yes. We will find it. Thankyou for informing us. I am going to assume we don't need a shaparone, otherwise there would be one here." Steve said kindly, standing straight and stepping quietly off the platform. Everyone seemed to mimic his thoughts as they snapped into their more dangerous -or for Bruce, prepared- self as they followed their leader.
"That is correct. Now, please be on your way. It is best not to keep Odin waiting." Heimdall assured, nodding his head towards the bridge. Steve gave a quick nod in response before heading out with his team following not far behind. The walk was long, but when the doors to the throne room opened jest before Steve could knock seemed to pump all of that used energy right back into the avengers. They glanced at eachother quickly before walking up to Odin a kneeling a mere eight feet from the throne. They acted just as they did when Thor had shown them the way to act around the all powerful being.
"You wanted to see us, sir?" Steve asked, standing slowly. The team followed and looked at the god with looks of confusion.
"Yes. I will explain when my son arrives. You ,use all be incredibly confused, so I am greatful for your cooperation." Odin said in the calm tone that seemed to rattle around the room with the level of volume used.
"It's no problem sir, but I must know, is anything wrong? Is someone in danger?" Peter asked politely, he had removed his mask, so his eyes clearly showed his concern.
"That is yet to be determined." Odin spoke, not easing anyone's adrenaline levels in the slightest. The avengers glanced nervously between themselves as they waited for the god of Thunder. It took nearly ten muinets of uncomfortable silence, but Thor did eventually arrive. He glanced at his friends with a confused look before quickly kneeling before his father. He was very confused.
"Father," Thor started, standing up "Loki is back in his cell. And friends, what are you doing here? I thought you were back in Midgard still." Thor asked questioningly.
"Heimdall zapped us here after you got here." Clint explained, he was going to continue when Odin stepped in.
"Yes, I requested their presence. Now that you have arrived, I can explain to you all." Odin started, waiting for everyone to look at him before realy begining. "As Thor knows, I treat Heimdall as my advisor as well as gate keeper, seeing as he sees everything in all nine realms. And he has advised me that we give Loki a retrial after something that he saw convinced him of a change in my adopted son. I have decided that if there is any way this can be true, it is worth an attempt. And I have called all of you to bare witness. I ask that you retrieve any evidence you may have from Midgard. Are there any other witnesses?" The avengers and Thor all looked between eachother in shock. Tony and Bruce quickly and quickly and quietly.
"Well there's Fury..." Bruce whispered, looking to Tony.
"Yes, but he was barely there for a couple hours. You sure that counts?" Tony replied in a hushed tone, turning to Bruce.
"True. But he did see you stick up for Loki. And he watched him cower a bit. And he did rock
Natasha to sleep, so..." Bruce reasoned. Tony sighed and let his head fall so his chin was almost touching his chest before pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Ugh. Yeah, your right. Alright. Yeah. He's a witness. God, our lives are so weird." Tony groaned. Bruce nodded in agreement. Tony sighed before turning to Odin. "Yes, sir, there is one more witness. His name is Nick Fury." Tony stated politely. Steve rose his eyebrows.
"Wait, hang on. Director Fury showed up and Loki's still alive?" Steve asked in a tone that perfectly displayed his shock. "Ok, explanation. This should be good." Steve smirked, looking at Tony.
"I... I uh. Ugh. We needed him to turn you back and I... well... I kinda...." Tony gulped, avoiding eye contact.
"What did you do Tony?" Natasha asked, standing beside Steve now.
"I... hugh. I jumped infront of Loki when Fury pointed guns at him. He was clearly not thinking. Bullets will not hurt a god." Tony gulped, smirking a second later. "But, I did get to see him rock a baby Natasha to get her to stop crying. Did you know he has kids?" Tony chuckled. Natasha's eyes widened and her cheeks were litteraly the color of her hair. This was the first time anyone had ever seen her acctualy show so much emotion.
"Alright. Peter and Tony you will both return to Midgard and retrieve what we need for the trial. Peter, you will bring the witness and Tony will retrieve the evidence. When you need to return here, simply stand somewhere with open sky and call for Heimdall. Now, the rest of you can return to the rooms you previously used. Now, go and complete your tasks." Odin ordered. Everyone stood straight and looked at him as he spoke, kneeling quickly before heading off in different directions. Heimdall didn't need to be told, so Tony and Peter were greeted and then sent off on their way without a goodbye. Hey managed to stumble a little less when they landed, but that didn't help much when they realized two things between them.
1: Tony had to carry bins of those discussing and creepy things that crawled out of Loki.
And 2: Peter had to retrieve Nick Fury.Joy.
