CHAPTER 4

I stood in shock, my mouth slightly hanging open. Toby noticed I was silent and glanced over towards me but before he could say anything,

"So what you're trying to say, is that you know everything about me?" I questioned rather confused and trapped in thoughts,

"Isn't that what I just said?" He teased. I saw him walk over to me,

"I know you're adopted, I know what even happened to your true parents, your favorite color is purple, you love cats, and so much-

"Y-you know what happened to my true parents?" I asked, the only people I thought would've known what happened to my parents were my foster parents.. But then again.. They don't really care about me. I heard him swallow hard,

"Um.. Yeah." He said. As if everything was totally cool..

"Can you tell me?" I asked, as if almost begging. He motioned for me to sit next to him, and I did,

"Maye.. Your true parents were murdered." He said. I took it better than I thought I would, but I still felt a bomb drop in my stomach once he had said that,

"How do you know this?" I asked a little more sharp than I expected. He stayed quiet. I looked at him expecting him to answer at any moment but instead he stood up and walked over to my window,

"I need to go...." He muttered beginning to climb out my window,

"Hey but what about my-

"Bye Maye! I'll see you again soon!" He winked at me and waved totally ignoring me as if he hadn't said anything. I ran over to my window and looked outside.. But he was gone.. As if he had vanished into the air..

"What.." I muttered to myself, staring outside into the endless woods that stood outside my window.
