"Have you written any new songs lately?" Taylor asked.

"Nope, just that one that I still haven't bothered to finish." Ed shrugged.

"Well Jack,"

"Antonoff?"

"Yeah, he sent me a track this morning, and you know I've never really written to track before, but this song just come out super effortlessly." She begun pulling out her phone, "Here, I want your opinion on it."

"Aight." Ed loved when they'd share songs with each other. They both knew how truly special and meaningful it was.

"I think I'm going to call it 'Are We Out of the Woods' that or just 'Out of the Woods'," she begun playing the voice memo that she'd recorded of herself earlier. It was essentially the first rough draft of a song.

Remember when you hit the brakes too soon,

Twenty stitches in a hospital room,

When you started crying baby I did too,

When the sun came up I was looking at you,

After the bridge, immediately Ed knew exactly who this song was about. Right when they had gotten together was around the same time Ed had fallen in love with her. The timing couldn't have been worse, especially considering how he and Harry had been best friends.

"Amazing, you smashed it as usual."

Taylor sighed from relief, "Thank you. You already know how much that means when it comes from you."

Ed simply smiled in response. Taylor frowned, "Are you sure you don't want my feedback on that song? I know you've been struggling with it for a while now."

The song in question was a song he'd written about Taylor. He started it after the Grammys, but just couldn't quite finish it.

"I guess nows as good a time as any. So it's about that girl I mentioned earlier."

Taylor furrowed her brows in confusion, "Wait really? You met her that long ago? You totally gave off the impression that you met her super recently. Like I just assumed you met her this week."

"Yeah, no I-,"

"Wait what the fuck, how have I never heard about her before? You know what never mind, sorry we were gonna focus on your song."

Ed laughed, "Thanks. Anyways, yeah I met this girl at the Grammys last year. I just remember when we were there I realized for the first time how much bullshit is going on." Taylor nodded in agreement. "Like everyone there was socializing, and I'd had a million conversations that night, and they were all full of it, ya know? Nothing was real, nothing of substance was being talked about. Just a lot of conversations for the sake of conversing."

"Dude I was with you for an hour that night! We were literally chilling in my dressing room with Sir Elton John for like a good hour."

"Taylor! I'm generalizing the situation right now!"

"Sorry sorry, I got you, carry on."

"Back to my story... There was this girl, she was just so raw and real, and that just blew me away. I couldn't stop thinking about her after that." Ed sighed, "But yeah, I have no idea what I'm even gonna title this song yet, but I might as well just play what I already have."

Ed stood up to grab his guitar from the seat behind his, and began to play.

You look so wonderful in your dress

I love your hair like that

The way it falls on the side of your neck

Down your shoulders and back

We are surrounded by all of these lies

And people who talk too much

You've got that kind of look in your eyes

As if no one knows anything but us

"I actually don't have the chorus yet, just the verses."

You look so beautiful in this light

Your silhouette over me

The way it brings out the blue in your eyes

Is the Tenerife sea

And all of the voices surrounding us here

They just fade out when you take a breath

Just say the word and I will disappear

Into the wilderness

"Oh Ed, the lyrics are beautiful."

"Thanks."

"I know exactly what you should title this song."

Ed hesitated, "And what's that."

"Tenerife Sea."

They both smiled, "Tenerife Sea, that's perfect."
