The Red Princess

Part 1

Princess Natalia of Romania.
Beauty with brains.

This description is the smallest, yet describes her completely. The only daughter of King Nicholas and his deceased wife Demetria. She was sharp, intelligent, quick, skilled in combat, sword fighting, archery and every kind of war skill. But what appealed to most was, her extreme beauty. Her hair, red, like burning fire when in sunlight, fell on her neck. Her eyes, emerald and almond shaped, with big beautiful lashes covering them. Her lips like rose petals. Her skin so soft, so delicate, a little pressure could leave a mark. Her figure, a perfect hour glass. She was so beautiful, that all her other qualities didn't matter to anyone, and that irked her, because she wanted to make her identity with her deeds not looks.

The king had remarried, years later, to a girl almost Natalia's age. Queen Maria, the king's second wife, was a doting queen, and a good friend to Natalia. The king and Queen had a son, 3 years old Prince Phil, named after a trusted minister of the king who was martyred.

Princess Natalia was a free bird, she did what she pleased. But now she had come of age, and the king wanted to find a suitable groom, and wed her before things get out of hands.

Princes all over the world send proposals, but the Princess wanted to marry the man whom she falls in love with.
Though she had many male friends, none touched her heart enough to win her.

Prince Loki of Asgard, a tall and handsome guy, with long black hair and blue eyes, adored the princess, and was her close friend. The Prince's elder brother, was happily married, and wished the same for his brother. However, Prince Loki refused all proposals, since he wanted Natalia to be his wife.

Natalia was so absorbed in friendship, she didn't realize he had fallen in love with her. He didn't tell either, he wanted it to be at the right time.

King T'Challa of Wakanda, send the proposal many times. He was already a king, at such a young age, and was holding his head high. His high intellectual, and bravery impressed King Nicholas a lot.

But the best choice, for his daughter, in King Nicholas's eyes, was Prince James Howlett Logan of Alberia. He was the only son of King Charles, a very good friend of King Nicholas.

Logan, a very tall and handsome young prince, was every girl's dream. Not only did he have good looks, he was also a peace minded and graceful person. Just one meeting with him and he won the person over. His charm had everyone wrapped around his finger.

Natalia knew him since childhood, not close, but they were still friends, they shared many hobbies, like reading and dancing, and bonded well.

All in all, the choice was difficult, but had to be made. And to help Natalia decide, on Queen Maria's advice, the king arranged a two weeks long carnival, and invited the two Princes and the king, to share the customs and traditions, and enjoy the hospitality of Romania, there by giving Natalia a chance to decide who is best for her.

And then their was him, son of a woodcutter, Captain Steven had come a long way through his dedication and love for his country. Joseph and Maria were poor and helpless, but their son brought them happiness, as he joined the king's forces, and was soon Captain in command of the army.

Tall and handsome with blue innocent eyes, and blonde hair, standing tall shoulders and a muscular physique. He was the guy, the court girls drooled on. Girls giggled whenever he passed by, heart beats raced, and some fell down. But he didn't care. His first and foremost priority was the kingdom's safety, and that further meant, keeping the Princess safe.

The Princess, Princess Natalia of Romania, was a sweetheart of many males, but only one man could see the fearless lioness behind her delicate skin, the warrior behind the long capes. And that man was.. Sergeant Barnes.

Captain Steven's best friend, Sergeant Barnes was a rather wasted guy, owing to his scars in severe battles, and lack of interest in combing or cutting his hair, he had lost his own beauty due to recklessness. However, to Natalia, he was still perfect, because whatever she learned, she learned from him.

When King Nicholas refused, Sergeant Barnes took it upon himself to train the princess, he believed that she had the right to be independent, to be able to protect herself without masculine help. He saw the princess was capable in all ways, and helped her learn all that she wants.

He had, developed feelings for the fearless Princess, but she was royalty, and be was not. Hiding his love deep in his heart, he gave her what she deserved and moved on, getting engaged to Steven's younger sister Wanda, a beautiful clever young lady.

As days passed, the anticipation grew, on who would win the Princess's heart? Who would be lucky enough to have her?

The carnival approached, and the preparations peaked, racing the beats of everyone's hearts.
