He is starting to panic
I can feel it in the air. See it in his movements. The way the pattern of his breathing has changed slowly over the time I have been stalking him.
It's past curfew and he knows it.
He glances down at his watch, only to reveal time is still ticking. The later it gets the more dangerous it is for him. I step out of the shadows, smiling at him as I reveal myself.
"What are you doing out so late?" His head snaps up, his eyes wide and afraid. He notices my pale skin, bright red lips and leather jacket with my band logo printed across the back.
"The Biters."
His eyes widen and I smile at him, flashing my fangs and confirming his fears.
"You are in trouble little bunny."
He stumbles backwards, tripping over his own feet before catching himself.
"St-stay away from me." he stutters, fear shuddering in his words. I continue walking towards him.
"Just be a good little bunny. It won't hurt that much. Promise." I wink at him, teasing my food has always been the best part. He backs up, finding himself pressed against a wall, I continue to walk closer.
"Please- no. I have a family." I pout my bottom lip at him, my face laden with fake sympathy.
"And I need to get back to mine, so lets not drag this out." I am now standing in front of him, the air completely silent except for his heavy terrified breathing. I place my one hand on his left shoulder and use the other to gently tilt his head to the side, exposing his neck. He seems submissive, knowing it would be stupid to fight a vampire. I drag my fingers up his chest to his face, running them softly down his cheek. "So good looking. What a shame." his bottom lip quivers as I press my lips to his neck, kissing the skin tenderly. "Such a good little bunny." I graze the tip of my fangs against his skin, his smell intoxicating me. I inhale through my nose, he smells almost as good as he looks. "Maybe I should keep you." his left arm suddenly thrusts forward and pain erupts in my waist. He pushes my backwards, causing me to stumble in my moment of weakness. I don't fall though.
I never fall.
My eyes flare red and I look down at my torso, a knife is buried handle deep into my waist. The fucker stabbed me. I lift my eyes up to him "that was a very bad idea" I say my voice spilling with anger. I pull the knife out of my flesh, stepping towards him. He tries to run but I am on him in a flash, my body shoving his back against the wall. "I was going to play nice with you, but now I have lost patience." I grab his hand and lift it above his head, stabbing the knife through his flesh and into the wall. There, now he cant try anything. He yells out in pain and I smother his mouth with my hand. I hush him quietly, as if I didn't just thrust a blade through his flesh. "Be quiet now, we cant let every vampire know you are here. You are mine." He starts sobbing, blood drips down his arms and I press up on my tiptoes. I lick the blood off his skin, savouring the flavour. I feel the wound on my waist start to close and smile, knowing his blood is the reason my body is healing itself. Human blood is the quickest way to heal a vampire, otherwise we heal exactly like humans would. I pull away and look into his eyes. His are pleading and desperate.
"Please please, my family. I will do anything." He sobs quietly. I roll my eyes.
"You shouldn't have fucked with me. Maybe I would have considered letting you go." His eyes widen as I plunge my fangs into his neck. He screams, his body writhing as I drain him from his blood. Once I have sucked him dry I step back, licking the blood from my teeth.
I turn around and notice the figures of four men watching me from a distance. I can tell instantly they are apart of The Fangs. Our rival gang. They look at me intently. I know they watched me savagely murder that man. They watched me toy with his feelings then tear his life from him, and to be honest I couldn't care less. One of them nods at me in approval and I instantly notice him as Felix, the leader of their gang. I bare my fangs at them and turn to walk away.
They are one of the most heartless gangs in the world. Rape, torture and murder are all on their agenda. They feel no sympathy, yet neither does our group. That's why we are such vicious rivals, the two most deadly gangs in the world living in the same town can't ever end well. I run back to the group, even though they are across the city, reaching them in under five seconds. I jump the fence to the abandoned freezing works and head to the top floor. I knock on the door, watching the eye flap slide open.
"What's the password." I shake my head.
"Shut up Nico and let me in before I smash the door down." I hear him laugh behind the door, followed by the deadbolt sliding free.
"Close enough." the door opens and I step into the room. The air changes suddenly, it feels risky and violet. Anybody else wouldn't feel comfortable, but this is like home to me.
The interior has been personalised, tables littered with rubbish, fridges for alcohol and blood bags , bedrooms considering most of us don't have proper homes. I am included in that group of people. Nico smiles at me happily, he doesn't originally seem like the type of person who would fit in with our people but he has a dark side. A side I do not wish to witness myself. His smile turns to a frown as he notices the blood on my shorts.
"That's your blood." I notice the vampires around me advert their attention to me and Nico. Pheonixs gaze in particular burns into my skin. "What happened?" Nico says either not noticing the eyes on us or simply not caring.
"Just a human. The bastard stabbed me, but it doesn't matter now." I shrug it off "his blood made up for my injuries." he smiles.
"I'm glad your alright. Being able to take out a man with a stab wound, you've always been impressive." I winks at him playfully.
"Ah, I learnt from the best." he laughs at my compliment, his fangs slightly showing as his lips peel back. "I should probably leave, its been a big day. I just want to relax."
"Sure, I won't stop you." I nod at him appreciatively and head towards my bedroom. I walk up the flight of stairs and walk down the hallway where the bedrooms branch from. I hear moans and sobbing as I walk down the rooms. I guess people have very different ways of spending their eternities. I see Kitty leave her room, she smiles at me sickly as she sees me in the hallway. I scrunch up my face in disgust, turning to face my bedroom door. I put the key in and twist, just as I am about to push open the door her hand touches my shoulder. I sigh and turn around, facing her. Her long silky black hair cascades down her back perfectly. Her face is drawn on with spectacular skill, her lips red and skin pale. I can see the things her makeup can't hide. The bite mark scars on her neck, the red lines in her iris that giveaway she is not a purebred. She may as well be though, after all she is sleeping with the leader of our gang.
"Ryder wants to see you." She says, her breath smelling minty. "He says it's urgent."
"Well I am exhausted, so Ryder will have to wait." She rolls her eyes at me.
"No, I don't think you understand. Ryder will be seeing you, now. He is expecting you." She pauses for a moment, placing a hand on her hip. "Plus, it's not like you can even sleep anyways." She shakes her head and walks down the hall, her tiny skirt swishing with her hips as she struts away. Roll my eyes and swing my bedroom door open. I step inside, the white walls and blue bedspread reminding me of home.
Home
I frown. My home was never very 'home like'. I sling my sword from my shoulders and lay it on my desk. I turn around while running a hand through my hair. Suddenly a hand clamps over my mouth and a figure presses me against a wall. My eyes widen in shock and my mind starts racing for an escape plan. Maybe I can reach my samurai sword? These thoughts evaporate as soon as I recognise the face of my attacker. I slap his arm and he smiles at me, moving his hand away.
"How did you get in here?" he looks at the open window.
"I guess I am pretty good at scaling buildings." he says quietly. I smile, grabbing either zip side of his unzipped hoodie. I press up on my toes and our lips clash.
What we are doing is punishable by death.
Vampire and human relations end very badly if discovered. Luckily, we haven't been discovered yet, and we don't plan to be. He strips off my black singlet and I shove him down onto the bed hungrily.
Ryder can wait till tomorrow.•••••
