- Prologue
The timing was all wrong, it was too early.
The wind wound its way around her; she had long since given up the fight. Darkness descended around the area, enveloping all that was in sight, stripping the objects of their details. With it came an oppressive silence. Her mind had detached from her body and she felt as though she was looking down upon herself. A weak, crumpled girl lay in the gutter of a bus stop, surrounding her was forest, void of all light.
Blood still surged out of a hole made in her chest, departing from her, desperate to turn the surrounding area crimson. It felt surreal, again.
It wasn't right.
Her eyelids were flickering shut; she had no strength to keep them open any longer. The streetlight no more than a hundred meters down the road cast its eerie yellow light upon her fragile body.
A world that had once seemed so complicated curved into simplicity before her eyes. She was going to die.
A sense of panic rushed through her blood stream, hitting her so hard that she gasped in pain. She felt isolated and cut off from the world, she couldn't smell the dew settling over the forest nor could she feel the warmth of the blood as it left her body, numb. The sense of impending doom descended over her further. Her eyes closed as a final thought drifted through her mind.
Finally.
