He was slumped asleep on a chair in the corner. It was an odd sight. She'd never imagined seeing him so relaxed. The height he held over everyone that made him so intimidating was lost as his figure stretched lazily over the chair. It looked uncomfortable.
She sat up wincing, her temples were throbbing and she felt like she had a tight elastic band around her head. The room was bright. The sun, having nothing to hide behind, streamed straight through the window onto her face. Morgandy glanced around her, swinging her head from side to side in hope to get her bearings. After a minute she realised she had no idea where she was, the only thing in the room familiar to her was Dale.
She couldn't remember him being a part of last night. She couldn't even remember last night that well, she thought as she glanced at her clothes. She could remember sneaking out of school. Coming to...
What was the pubs name, steaming pot? Steaming something, Steaming Rock, that's what it was.
Beyond the performance there was blank. Darkness in her mind, she didn't know how she had ended up there or why. Frankly she needed to get back to school before they figured out she was missing and had broken curfew. Somewhere through Morgandy's groggy thoughts, Dale had woken up and she could feel his intense gaze on her.
Things between them had been left hanging loosely, they hardly knew each other but there was this strange intense unsaid chemistry between them. She looked across at him slowly. The sun highlighted the outline of his face, making him look even more God like. For once Morgandy was left speechless. He frowned slightly at her and shook his head quickly, wiping away sleep from his eyes and stretching.
"Care to explain?" Morgandy asked, tipping her head to the side. She couldn't come up with a logical solution. Why he was here, where she was, what had happened, hell everything about last night confused her. Dale's frown deepened as he looked at Morgandy. She had sat up on her elbows and more confusion played over her features for once she wasn't playing games or being obnoxious.
"You fell unconscious" Dale said, still gazing at her. He looked away, breaking the connection not sure what to say next. He'd talked to her friends in the band and they had no idea why it happened. Still looking at her, his earlier suspicions came back through his mind. The room had gone quiet, an awkward silence settling over them like a thick blanket. Morgandy didn't move, her breathing became shallow, her stomach churned. The light had progressively gotten brighter .
"Do you remember anything before you got knocked out?" His voice came out even lower than she had heard before. It caught Morgandy by surprise, so much that she snapped back at Him, feeling as though he was blaming her.
"What is this? An interrogation?" Her eyes challenged him. She still couldn't draw up any memories from that night. But her curiosity could wait for another day she decided quickly. Dale was still looking at her, his gave probing.
"If you don't mind," she said swinging her legs out of the bed "I'm going to head off now." She swayed slightly as she got up. Not sure both legs were up to the job of holding her full weight, she kept her face even, not about to give Dale anything else to say. She nearly walked out before realising she probably had no way of getting back to school assuming the boys had left her. Damn. Dale would have to drive her. So she stood and he sat, she didn't look at him this time, there was no need. The silenced air around them manifested again, it felt thick against her skin though there was no visible difference. Something needed to happen. This deadlock had gone on too long.
Before she had moved further, he got up, looked at her then walked out of the room. Leaving an annoyed and slightly peeved Morgandy in his wake, deadlock still on. She stood there awkwardly for a minute, still trying to fill in her missing memory. Frustration settled over her as she felt her headache growing. Glancing around the room she saw her high heels and grabbing them, she stormed after him. Her feet thumped the floorboards loudly as she ran down the stairs and out the door of the pub. Still no memory.
There had been many times when Morgandy had awoken not sure where she was, not sure what had just happened. She had spent long periods of time walking through streets unsure of what was to come. How life had happened. This was nothing new, but the blankness scared her because she was still the same person. Through all the unknown she had always known the past, losing it was driving her insane. It was like a light bulb going out as soon as you flick the switch to turn it on. It works for a split second then goes out, never to come back.
She ran, through the winding streets of the outskirts of London, through paddocks of nothing. She hadn't seen Dale when she walked out and didn't want to look for him. How he had even been at the pub was a mystery. Further and further she got away from last night. Tears leaked down her face, emotions showing that had been under key and lock through her move to Ashby Brymore.
She was alone, always by herself. It was difficult, being alone for so long, becoming swallowed in one's own thoughts and she was tired.
Surrounding her was green. Green fresh grass and a rolling hill, she had ran away from London, away from civilisation to the smell of fresh dew and the warm sun but subconsciously she just wanted to run towards anything she could understand.
The road back to Ashby Brymore was long and windy. She walked from the scenery of open paddocks and rolling hills into dense forest. The sun was slowly disappearing behind the many trees. The day had been drained away by the long walk. The further she walked the tighter Morgandy's muscles grew, the feeling gave her relief, she had done many long walks in the army. The sun set, quickly leaving the sky, emptying the forest around her and the road of light. She looked around temporarily loosing focus on her footing and tipping slightly. All the forest looked the same. It was as if though road she was travelling on was circular. A never ending road, always moving but never getting anywhere, story of my life, she thought.
By the time she ended up back at school there were no lights on in the building. She walked through the main gates, not about to risk getting lost in the forest as she'd had enough trouble making it out to the road. Moving the heavy intricately designed wooden doors was harder. She heaved for over five minutes trying to move it just enough for her to slip in and she slid it closed with considerably less effort. Morgandy tiptoed up the stairs and through deserted corridors. The wind whispering around her sending shivers down her body, she hadn't realised she was so cold. Morgandy still wore her black low backed dress though somewhere along the way she had ditched her high heels. Her mind again slipped back to the night before, not even snippets where coming back. It was unusual and her thoughts travelled to another part of her past. The person that had set all these lives into motion and one day she would get her revenge on him.

Walking quietly into her room she walked hurriedly straight to her desk. An idea settling itself in her brain as she sat down and opened up her computer, the internet was slow there due to the stone walls. It would have to do. She stared straight at the screen as it started loading the web browser. She wasn't even sure this would work but she had no plan B after it.
Technology was really in her favour when it came to tracking down people from centuries ago. In history class, their teacher had talked forever about family trees and ancestors. It had been a never ending boring lecture. Morgandy could never be able to pin down her own real family tree, family is such a loose term anyway. But out of it all, good did come. Morgandy tapped her head as she tried to recall the site used to track down relatives.
Eyes bludging slightly and her hands shaking she remembered the site and typed it in, desperate to start her search. Of course the search wasn't free and Morgandy quickly rummaged through her pockets coming up with a few notes and coins and a lot of gum wrappers. She went on to realise that the computer didn't take money and she needed her credit card. Feeling silly she could have hit her head multiple times on the desk.
Still in a hurry she typed in her details for an account on the site. It wasn't long until her account opened and she was able to type in his name. Her hands hesitated slightly on the keyboard before typing, Ashford Thales.
