Morgandy

One could see her deep red hair from anywhere along the hallway. She stood out like a sore thumb. It had taken Morgandy ten minutes to track Annett down. She was always around the same area this time of day, heading to the dining hall.

Morgandy followed her hair, twisting and turning through the masses of people. Standing on her tippy toes only to realise Ant was fairly short. She got the point where she seemed to have lost her all together and sighed in frustration.

Turning around she smacked foreheads with someone. The girl had dropped her books and Morgandy looked down at her as she picked them up. Sure enough, deep red hair bouncing up and down as she scrabbled around trying to assemble her books.

The moment her eyes found Morgandy's face she changed. Her body tensed, she shifted unsteadily, almost as if she's nervous. Puzzled Morgandy smiled at her, trying to tell her everything was alright.

"Hey, how are you?" She said softly and touched the top of her arm. Ant pulled away quickly as if she had been burnt and turned on her heel having gathered all her books. Morgandy was left standing in the hallway with nothing and no one, the same way she had come to the school.

Sighing Morgandy walked outside, the cool night breeze ruffling her hair. The weather had gotten better but the nights were still cold, something Morgandy hated deeply. She breathed in the cold air, twirling around. She obviously couldn't do anything that would change how Annett was feeling about her situation. She wondered if she should even be helping.

On the spur of the moment Morgandy walked to the garage keys in hand. Her sleek car raced through the darkness, the only headlights for a mile. The dashboard lit up her face in an eerie green glow, showing the concentration in her eyes.

After winding her way to London she drove steadily up to the library she knew so well by then and entered. It was quiet as always when she went there. Only some of the lights were on.

Her footsteps echoed through the circular building, bouncing off the windows as she walked to the computer lab, glancing into the history section. There was a dark silhouette bending over a big heavy looking book surrounded by one light in the darkness. It gave Morgandy the shivers and she hurried on walking until she was safely in the computer lab with the door closed behind her.

Turning on the computer furthest from the door she watched as it came to life, coming out of its deep sleep.
