Jacob
"Do you really think all of this will work out," I said casually to Miranda as we looked around the surrounding area for any sign of water.
"Well if you doubt everything not much of anything works out for you. You just have to believe that what we did is right, and that we will be able to make it through winter," I pondered those words for a moment. This past winter was very mellow, not much of snow, not much cold, which means that the weather will forgive us again this year, or it will take out its built up energy on us. God knows how unpredictable Utah weather is, especially in the mountains.
"I am sure we will be fine in the winter. We both are practically genius's, I am just a little worried about the wild life and, I don't know our parents sending someone out to come and save us," Miranda stayed silent for awhile, as we continued searching for some source of water.
"well I guess we will have to run, because I am not going back. I gave up a lot to be here. We've talked about doing this for years. I always thought is was just talking, that we were being kids with an imagination to big for our own good. But I did always DREAM about doing this, what girl wouldn't? Living a life full of adventure and magic, being out in the woods with just really close friends, and now that we have actually left our homes, left our lives...........Well lets just say that I am not giving up without a fight."
I shut my mouth after that. Apparently she is really passionate about us doing this, and I don't wanna run around crushing her dreams. I guess we all gave up some part of our life. Kalyn was in SHOFGS, or "State Honor Orchestra for Gifted Students," It was a very prestigious type of club to get into, and she was very proud of this particular accomplishment. Only 20 band members make it out of the entire state and she was one of them.
Miranda was about to graduate top of her class at Ogden High-School, home of the Ice foxes. Now not taking account of the ridiculous mascot and rather boring sounding name, Ogden was the top school for academics in the state, eight in country. Now being valedictorian at this type of school can only mean one thing; Miranda is very, very smart. she was on her way to patenting her very own invention. It was a device that turned water into pure energy. In fact it produced so much energy that cars could go run off it. She was about to make a lot of money and a lot of people are trying to steal and replicate her blue print.
Kyler was captain of the international winning softball team. She already had a full ride scholarship to UU (Utah University) for it. She won her and her team 20,00 bucks for the winning home run against the top team of china. Now kyler is only 16 so i guess that explains a lot about her and her life.
Me, well I was pretty set too. I had the lead part in a musical on broadway a year ago. This little job paid me 1,000 dollars per show. The income from performing earned me enough to hire an agent. For the past year I have auditioned for 20 leads and even more supporting roles in over 60 shows. On the side of that, me and Caitlyn invented the worlds first hover car using Miranda's power source worked into our design. oh and we also helped to invent a antibiotic that slows down cancer cells by 75%.
So this idea of our can seem un-rational at times, but their are two sides to every story.Kyler was bullied visciously at school. Being a young captain of a star tem\am can make a lot of people mad. It started off as a small thing, just a few boos in the hall, or a shove when walking out of a classroom. but then the girls started to get mean. They started to get on her social networks and send her horrible message, or post ugly pictures and tag her name. It really started to get to her whenn the guys started to get in on it too. Kyler used to be a happy person who saw the bright sad of everything. But soon, she became depressed and developed a hatred twoard the world. She stopped doing things with her friends, like me. Soon I barely spoke with her. Apparently her parents put her on suicide watch or something, and that was about it. I talked to her over the phone a few weeks ago, and the converstion we had told about me and Miranda's plans, and when she heard about getting away, she was all in.
Kalyn and I had home issues. Our parents were......well to plainly state my feeling, evil. Kalyn got into fights sometimes, not very often. But when she did argue and fight they were big, and it left her thinking, thinking a little too much. They also just kinda ignored her. SHe would try to talk to them, and express her feelings and she would get shut down. It really got to her somehow.
They practacially took all of their anger out on me, that might be one of the reasons why Caitlyn and I are so close. Both of our parents beat up on us verbally and physically. Everyday when I would get up, my Dad would start to scream at me for something I did the day before, or "talking back to him," Then I would go to school, and have a perfectly fine day, and it would be ruined by walking into a handful of fist. I would have to lie to my friends and make them swear not to tell anyone. The brusises got to be too much I guess.
Now Miranda proably had the most valid reason to leave. Her life was terrible. She had a, decent reletionship with her parents, but not much was there. Their conversations consisted of yelling and asking what she wanted for dinner. At school, all of her teachers ridiculed her because they thought she "acted like she was smarter than everyone else." Which in all reality she proably was. Becasue of this her teachers tried their hardest to fail her. Saying things like "She did the problem wrong, therefore, she can not get credit on the whole assigment." Don't ask me why they do this, and don't ask her. I guess they see a weak scrawny girl, and that's just not accurate. All of her scholarships got denied, and she was too poor to pay for herself. Her home was small and she slept in the bathroom most nights because all of her mom's boyfriends were sleeping in her room. Some nights she didn't eat anything at all because her lunch acount are drained, and there is no food in the house. This life msy sound a little better, but there is a lot more.....I just don't like talking to about it.
"Jacob!" Miranda Interuptted my thoughts, causing me to trip over a root and fall on my face. She laughed for only but a second.
"What do you want," I asked.
"Look, There is a tent over there,"
"A tent?" I stood up and followed Miranda's finger. I brushed the dirt off my pants, and did indeed see a tent. It was obviously built by someone who didn't know how to make tents.
"Who do you think inside," Miranda asked.
"I don't know but they could dangerous," I loaded my bow that was strung over my back and aimed it at the mystriouys camp sight.
"Hello," Miranda yelled
"Shut up," I whispered harshly at her. "What if they have a gun!?" The zipper on the door started to unzip. We stood un-moving, waiting for the....the thing to emerge from the tent.
The second the person walked out of the tent, I lowered my bow, and miranda raised hers.
"Caitlyn?"
