Lena's parents never called her to give her the news themselves. Peyton kept her updated with calls and text messages. Peyton and her dad moved their things out of the house and into his new house. Apparently, their mom wasn't home that day. Her dad told Peyton she planned it that way on purpose. He apologized throughout the day and only focused on making sure Lena's and Peyton's rooms were perfect. Peyton told Lena that she felt bad for him because it made her see a side of him that she has never seen before. Lena wished she could be there to help.
Lena spent days obsessing over the news. When the friend weekend finally came, it helped her mood even more than it helped Luna's mood. Sebastian and Alfonso planned an amazing day, and to Lena's surprise, they didn't actually get kicked out of any stores. Other than the store Sebastian was no long allowed into, but they banned him from their store the year before. Luna seemed to have a good time, which made the others feel better. Jensen and Lena celebrated their two-month anniversary the day after. They spent the day in town and returned to their dorm for trivia night in the senior dorm lobby.
Every other spare second Lena had she spent in the library or in her room studying. She had three papers to write in the next month and one test. One of their teachers also paired her and Jensen together again for another project for science class. However, they both hated the class so it was not as easy to finish as they expected. They were on their second week of spending every night after class in the library.
Lena groaned in frustration. "What did you get for the eleventh question?" she asked Jensen. "I can't figure it out and it's driving me insane!"
Jensen leaned over and glanced at her paper. "You're using the wrong formula. It's the second formula not the first."
"Damn it," Lena muttered.
Jensen chuckled, "It took me 15 minutes to finish that one so don't feel bad."
"But this is just math it shouldn't be that hard. I expected the hard part to be writing our papers and working on that science project. Instead, I've spent a half hour answering 10 questions."
Jensen stole her notebook and textbook from her. "In that case, you are taking a break from math. You will not make progress on anything else if you obsess over it. What paper do you want to work on?"
"How about we work on the influential figure in history paper?" Lena suggested.
"Who are you choosing for it?" Jensen asked.
Lena replied, "I think I want to write about Emmaline Pankhurst. We read about her last semester in history class when the teacher brought up the feminist movement and the union Pankhurst formed with her daughters. I even found a few of the speeches she gave and that will be my focus of the paper. Who are you choosing?"
"I haven't decided."
"Porter, the paper is due in a week."
"I know, Enders," he grinned.
"You can't finish it in a week if you don't even have the sources yet," she told him.
He put his arm around her and said, "You are highly underestimating my abilities, Enders. I'm hurt."
Lena rolled her eyes, "Fine, I'm not helping you then. I want you to prove it."
"Okay, I take it back."
She laughed, "I thought so."
"Who do I choose?" he asked.
"I can't be the one to choose," she told him.
