I wake up and am immediately excited for the show tonight. Last night was so exhilarating that I can't wait for later.

Right away I paint on another color of triangles. I spread the paint on as evenly as possible. When I finish I hang up the whiteboard we got on the wall parallel to my bed. I grab the pack of markers and draw a quick cartoon of the cast from last night. I put Jazzy in Peggy's costume and me in Maria's. Everyone is standing on the set in the positions for Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells your Story.

The show comes and goes with just as much excitement as the night before. I perform for two weeks, because Jazzy doesn't want to spread her sickness to the rest of the cast. One morning a few days later I am looking for jobs online when I get a call.

I look at the phone, but the number is unknown, so I just pick up and say, "Hello?"

"Hello, this is Jessica Ronane. I'm the casting director for Matilda the Musical." The person on the other end says. I rack my brain as to why she would be calling me.

"I am Hazel. Hazel... Miranda," I say.

"Yes," she says. "So, I saw you perform in Hamilton on Friday. I was wondering if you would like to learn the parts for Matilda? We're looking for a new understudy, as our current lead is leaving the show."

My mouth drops open, "Seriously?"

She chuckles, "Yes, our other casting director and I thought you were amazing. To sing Lin's songs that well is very difficult. He's an excellent writer."

"He definitely is," I say. "So, you really want me for this part?"

"Absolutely," she replies in earnest. "You are one of the best young actresses I've seen in a while."

"Thank you," I say, grinning on the other end of the line.

"So," Jessica begins. "Do you want the role?"

"Of course!" It takes every bit of my willpower not to shout.

"Excellent. Are you available to start tomorrow?"

I nod, then quickly say, "Yes," as I remember I am on the phone.

"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow in the Shubert Theatre at 8:30. You can watch the show tomorrow as well. Would you like to bring someone with you?"

"Well, everyone's in the show. I don't really have anyone else to bring," I confess.

"That's all right," Jessica replies. I'll have a front row seat ready for you."

"Thank you so much!" I say.

"You're very welcome," she replies. "8:30!" She finishes, and hangs up. I put my phone down on my desk, and scream.

Lin bursts into the door. "Oh my God, are you okay? What happened? Did someone hurt you?"

"No, no," I say. I'm grinning. "I just got a call from Jessica Ronane."

He nods. "She's a casting agent, isn't she?"

"Yes," I exclaim. "She just called me to ask if I wanted to be the new understudy in Matilda! The musical!"

"Are you serious?" Lin asks. "Hazel, that's amazing!"

"I know!" I say. "I start tomorrow. I'm so excited!"

"As you should be. Starting your broadway career at age fifteen? That's amazing!"

I giggle, "You kind of already said that."

"Well, it needs to be said. You have an awesome voice, I'm not surprised you already landed a role," Lin says. "It was an honor to have you in my show."

"It was an honor to be in your show," I say.

"So you start tomorrow?" He asks. I nod. "Well then you should be in the show at least once more," he says, smiling.

I grin. "If you insist." So I rehearse with the cast again and perform that night. The show is as amazing as always. I am nearly crying as I leave the stage. I am really sad to be leaving Hamilton (even if I was only there for a couple weeks), but I'm really excited to go on to a new show.

A/N

I am so sorry! It's been forever since I posted, I just kind of lost some inspiration for no apparent reason, idk I'm unpredictable like that. Almost four hundred reads, that is insane. This chapter is a little boring, and not my best work, but I needed to post. Vote and comment, and have a good morning/afternoon/night!
