The Melody Maiden

Chapter 6

-Hailey's P.O.V.-
  I slowly got off the couch, trudging over to my bathroom. It took me a while to wake up completely, but when I did, I did my morning routine, and Melanie did hers.
    Eventually all of my things were packed up and ready to go. I once again strapped the dagger to my thigh and picked up all of my bags.

  "I'm kinda going to miss this place"
I jumped when I heard Melanie speak. She has been oddly silent for the past few days. I'll have a talk with her later.

   I locked the door behind us and dropped the key off at the desk and walked out. I glanced back one last time and noticed a cloaked figure looking my way. I could barely see their green eyes inspecting me. Looking me up and down curiously, like a cat that had seen a bird . I shrugged it off and continued walking.
  "I'll probably have a bit of explaining to do when I get back huh?" I joked.

  "Yeah..." Melanie barely mumbled. I slightly frowned at her reaction.

  "Hey Mel?" I asked. She hummed in response. " What's been up with you lately? You've been kind of......distant." Melanie tenses up for a moment, and said nothing. "Come on Melanie. You can trust me with anything. You know that."I said gently.

  She relaxed ever so slightly and sighed. "I don't know. I've just been getting this feeling. It kind of feels like we're being followed, but we aren't in danger of it. Like, it's not there to harm us." I thought about it for a moment. I have been picking up a scent recently, but it didn't smell dangerous at all. It almost felt.....

  Familiar.

   I normally just shrugged it off and continued doing whatever, thinking it was just my nose being crazy, but now that even Melanie can feel it, I started to feel kind of anxious.
 
Maybe I should investig-

I stopped in my tracks, and looked up to realize my mortal enemy was right in front of us......it was the dreaded TRAIN.

"Uuuuuuuugh. Whhhhyyy?!!!" I whined as Melanie dragged me on.
-2 vomit-inducing hours later-

  "FREEDOM!!!!!" I screeched as I jumped out of the train,  with Melanie and our luggage sitting beside me.

  "Honestly, stop screaming all the time! It's going to give me and everyone else a headache."
My face went red and I lowered my head in embarrassment.
As I picked up my bags, I got the feeling again. I looked up and there they were. The same person in a ripped cloak was staring at us.

  Ooookaay. Welp, we're being followed. I think. There IS a possibility he was just visiting there and he came back to Magnolia because he lives here. Yeah, that's probably it.

  I pulled my handbag over my shoulder and grabbed the other bags and treaded over to Lucy's. I knocked on the door, and was greeted with a surprised Lucy. She pulled me in for the tightest hug in my life while rambling questions and saying things like, "where have you been?!", " We were so worried!" Honestly, she was acting like an overprotective mother. But I didn't mind too much, since I don't really have one anymore.

  "Lucy, calm down, I was only gone for a day! I was just getting the rest of my stuff I left at my old apartment." I said.
After reassuring her, I started thinking.
I should probably get a place at Fairy Hills....I'm probably just a nuisance to Lucy at this point.... the rent is pretty expensive for me...but I'm sure I'll manage somehow. I'll worry about it later.

  "Hey Lucy, how about we go to the guild. We're kind of short on money and you need money to pay rent either way." Melanie said. She agreed and we left to go to the guild.
-Timeskip to Fairy Tail-
   We walked in and I immediately noticed all of my friends in one big group near a table. Natsu and Grey were fighting, Ezra was once again stopping them, Happy was offering a fish to Carla, whom was ignoring him, Gajeel  and Lily were sitting and just hanging around, and Wendy was quietly talking to Carla. I smiled and walked over.
  "Hey guys,I'm back." I said. Melanie rushed over to happy and gave him a big hug.
  Her attitude really changes when she's around Happy. It's so cute! I squealed. I was about to talk to Natsu when Lucy rushed over and dragged him to the job board.
  "Ooookay then." I muttered. I shrugged and got a cup of tea.
"Mmm. Nothing like a hot cup of tea to wake you up." As I was taking a sip, the doors of the guild burst open.

  And wouldn't you know! It was the same person who had been following me and Melanie. Okay, now is the time for me to calmly and rationally think this out.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!! WHATDOIDO WHATDOIDO WHATDOIDO?!?! OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD! HE WAS FOLLOWING US!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

I just stood there completely frozen. They walked toward me and Melanie, and spoke.
"Are you Hailey Ryomisoka?" They asked in a soft voice. They had caught me off guard, so it took me a minute to process what they asked.

"U-um yes?" I stuttered. My heart was beating a mile a minute, and it sped up even faster when they spoke again.

"Finally. I finally found you." They said. The world seemed to slow as they took off their hood. The room had gone silent, until the sound of a shattered cup sounded across the room.

"N-n-o. This isn't possible! How are you here?!" I said my voice wavering. Tears spilled from my eyes as the person who stood in front of me looked at me with smiling green eyes, which were flooded with happy tears.

I jumped up and hugged them harder than I ever have in my entire life. I buried my head in the crook of their neck and cried, I cried until there were no more tears left, but I didn't move. The one thing I had lost had been brought back to me.

"I missed you so much.... I thought I would never find you." They whispered.

"I missed you too..." I rasped.

"Suigin"

Aaaah! I is sorry! I haven't updated in so long, so I hope this longer chapter made up for it!!! I'll try and update more often, I promise!
