The Melody Maiden

Chapter 1

Darkness was all I could see.....not a speck of light was anywhere. I slowly looked around, still seeing nothing but black. I couldn't even tell if I was standing on anything. It was as if I was floating. Then, there was a loud CRACK and a flash of light..... and I saw my parents.... on the floor.... lying in a crimson pool of blood. Their eyes were dull and lifeless, and there were deep slashes on their chests and faces, blood oozing out of them.

That's when I noticed two figures, standing in the background. I could barely see the outline of their faces, and their smiles... they were catlike and sharp. One had a long sword on his/her back while the other had a small emblem on his/her cloak.
But what really stood out was their eyes, they seemed to glow, and they had no pupils. Just an endless abyss of white. That's when they both started twitching, and a sinister cackle rang throughout the room. There was a shrill scream and they suddenly appeared in front of me.

I tried to scream,plead, or even talk, but nothing came out. One of them raised a hand, about to strike me-

"NO!" I screamed, jolting up in sitting position. I was drenched in cold sweat, and I glanced around the place I was, and saw my room walls .I looked to my right and saw my exceed, Melanie, looking at me worriedly.
"Hailey" I heard Melanie whisper,"You okay?". My heavy breathing slowed down and I answered,
"Yeah, I just..." I took a deep breath and continued," I had that dream again." I said, a silent tear trailing down my cheek. She crawled up to me, her white sunflower nightgown swaying slightly. She hugged my arm as I pat her head, calming down almost immediately at the touch of her soft fur. I looked at my clock and realized it was time to get up anyway. I slowly got out of bed and stretched. I glanced over to my calendar by the door and my eyes widened. A smile quickly spread on my face and new energy surged through me. I quickly changed into my favorite outfit while Melanie got hers on.

My outfit consisted of a wine-red long sleeved shirt with a eighth note Symbol on it, a pair of shorts, tall lace-up steel-toed boots, a small handbag, and of course, my special headphones. Melanie's outfit was a small blue dress with little flowers printed on it, with the little earring on her left ear. We gulped down breakfast, brushed our teeth and hair, and walked out the apartment door.
I took a deep breath and said,
"Today's the day! Today we finally join a guild!
"Yeah!" Melanie says, holding her paw up in approval.
I put my headphones on and played my music. As we walked I saw a 'Wizard's Weekly' magazine on the sidewalk. I paused my music ,picked it up ,and read the first page. It was about a popular wizarding guild named 'Fairy Tail'. I smiled as I saw it was a wizarding guild. I read a bit more and grinned even wider(If that was even possible) when I saw that it that it was located in Magnolia. Magnolia was only about an hour away from here by train!
I quickly grabbed Melanie, who was gazing hungrily through the sushi shop window. I raced back home and immediately started packing.
"Wait!" I heard Melanie say," where are we going?!"
"Oh...." I said, my ears slightly turning pink. I had completely forgotten to tell her! "Well, we're going to Magnolia! I heard there was a popular guild there so...." I trailed off. She rolled her eyes and got out a small bag of things to take along.

We had gotten on the train, and it had begun moving several minutes later. When it did, my face grew a green tinge and I bit my tongue to prevent myself from throwing up.
"Damn motion sickness..." I mumbled.
"Hailey, watch your language" Melanie snapped. I muttered an apology and leaned on the window. When is it going to be over.... I thought miserably. Soon the cool glass of the window lulled me to sleep.
