Seventh grade was not much different than sixth for Beca and Chloe. Chloe still tormented Beca and Beca was still confused.
"Hey dorky." Chloe said one morning. "Got a pad I could borrow? Oh wait, you're not even close to starting your period."
"Look at her tiny little 'boobs'." Aubrey teased air-quoting 'boobs'.
Chloe found herself staring at Beca's little boobs. She found them really cute and-wait-she's getting sidetracked.
Throughout seventh grade, Beca started to make friends. They were pretty popular and took Beca under their wing because they thought she was cute. She'd do what they told her and she felt wanted.
"Beca, dear, could you get us some napkins?" Stacie asked.
"Uh okay." Beca said and got them napkins. When she arrived back, Chloe was sitting in her place. "Um, Chloe, I was sitting there." Beca said.
"Were you?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, that's my lunchbox." Beca pointed to the open bag on the table.
Chloe picked up the bag and threw it across the room. "Oops!"
"Chloe! What the hell?" Stacie yelled.
"I'm sorry is your little servant really that important to you?" Chloe asked with a fake pout.
"She's not our servant, she's our friend." Stacie said. "Now beat it, Beale, before Fat Amy gets back from her bathroom break!"
"Fine fine! Pull the Fat Amy card! She doesn't scare me though!" Just as Chloe said that, Amy walked through the doors and the ginger ran back to where she had originally sat down.
Beca reclaimed her seat. "Thanks guys." She smiled at the group.
"Anything for you, Becs." Stacie said with a smile.
Chloe came home to a police officer in the driveway.
"What's happening?" Chloe asked.
"Chloe Beale, we're taking you to a new house. Sam has been arrested for drunk driving. Don't worry, you're going to be okay." The police officer explained.
Chloe tried to calm herself down but she couldn't. She started breathing heavily and before she knew it, she was laying in a comfortable bed in a pink room.
"She's awake!" Chloe heard a woman squeal.
"Who are you?" Chloe asked the blonde.
"I'm Kelly!" The woman said sweetly. "Paige come here!"
"Why am I here?" Chloe asked as a brunette walked into the room.
"We adopted you!" Kelly said.
"What?" Chloe asked. "You adopted me?"
"Yes we did!" Paige said.
"Why?" Chloe asked.
"We wanted a daughter and you needed a home." Kelly said. "You're so beautiful, darling!"
Nobody had ever called Chloe beautiful before. She had always been "worthless" or "ugly".
"Are you guys, like, a couple?" Chloe asked.
"Yes we are!" Paige said. "Been married for three years!"
"Wow." Chloe sighed. She caught a glimpse of a clock. "Shoot! I should be at school."
"We're going to homeschool you, darling." Kelly said.
"Why? What about my friends?" Chloe asked.
"It's a better way for us to get to know you." Paige said.
Chloe sighed. Maybe homeschooling was a better option.
Meanwhile, at school, Beca was concerned.
"Where's Chloe?" She asked and looked around.
"Heard she got taken out of her foster home." Jessica said.
"Me too." Ashley agreed.
"Foster home?" Beca asked.
"Yeah, you didn't know?" Jessica asked. "That chick's got a messed up life."
"Huh." Was all Beca could say. Maybe that's why she was so mean to Beca.
From then on, school was much better for Beca. She could wear whatever she wanted, read whatever she wanted and pretty much be herself without being made fun of. It was great.
Chloe's new life was changing her. She was able to be who she wanted to be. She wore blouses and jeans, instead of leather. She'd wear dresses to special events and even wore high heels every so often. She felt like who she was meant to be. She wore dangling earrings instead of spikes. She loved her new life, but something was missing.
In eighth grade, Chloe began to realize why she had treated Beca the way she had. Being around Kelly and Paige made her realize that deep down, she wanted this life with Beca.
"Kelly, Paige, I have something I need help with." Chloe said.
"You can talk to us about anything." Kelly said.
"I like this girl." Chloe said, making the two women smile. "But I was a huge jerk to her. Like, you have no idea."
"I'm sure she'll forgive you." Paige said.
"I don't know. I was pretty mean." Chloe said.
"Well what do you want to do?" Kelly asked.
"I want to go back to public school with her and try to gain her trust." Chloe rushed out.
"You chase that girl!" Kelly said in excitement.
"We'll enroll you in public school next month. Until then, plan something big so she'll forgive you." Paige said.
Something big...what could Chloe do to win Beca back?
