"Is that Chloe Beale?" Stacie asked, looking behind Beca.
Beca quickly turned around and was met with a familiar pair of blue eyes.
"Holy crap." Beca sighed.
"Hi Beca." Chloe said quietly.
"What happened to you?" Beca asked, admiring Chloe's pink flowered dress.
"This is the real me. No more badass Chloe." Chloe replied with a smile. "Can I sit with you guys?"
"Um." Beca still had a hard time trusting this girl, she had tormented her for a long time.
"Sure thing!" Jessica said and Ashley elbowed her.
Chloe sat down uncomfortably close to Beca and smiled. It was an extremely awkward lunch period.
That afternoon, Beca was walking into the bathroom and singing to herself.
"You can sing?" She heard a familiar voice say from the stall.
"Yeah, you wanna make fun of me for it?" Beca replied.
"No, you have a really pretty voice." Chloe said.
"Really? Or are you just trying to butter me up?" Beca said.
"No, really." Chloe said.
"Thanks." Beca said.
They both flushed the toilets and went to wash their hands.
"You're really pretty." Chloe said.
"What?" Beca asked.
Before she knew it, Chloe had pushed her against the wall.
"You're so hot." Chloe breathed against Beca's lips. Beca had no idea what was going on and it was terrifying her.
Seconds later, Beca felt Chloe's soft lips against her own chapped ones.
"Aww." Chloe pulled away and ran her fingers gently across Beca's lips. "Do you wanna borrow some chapstick?"
"No!" Beca pushed Chloe off of her. "You make fun of me for two years, leave, come back and try to make out with me? I don't think so!"
"I really like you, Beca." Chloe said.
"Well, I hate you, Chloe!" Beca yelled and left the bathroom.
Chloe was left alone and heartbroken.
---
"She told me she hates me." Chloe cried in Kelly's arms.
"You did try to kiss her." Paige said.
"Aww Chlo." Kelly said softly, ignoring her wife. "You'll win her back. Don't worry."
"She hates me!" Chloe repeated.
"You have to gain her trust." Paige said. "How about you do one romantic gesture a day, see what happens."
"That's a good idea. Thanks." Chloe said.
"What do you think you'll do for tomorrow?" Paige asked.
"Chapstick." Was all Chloe said.
---
"Chloe's back." Beca sighed over her bowl of easy mac.
"Really?" Jenna asked. "Is she still mean?"
"No." Beca sighed. "Worse."
"Becs, you can tell me anything." Jenna said, sensing Beca was hiding something.
"She kissed me." Beca said. "She pushed me against the bathroom wall, called me hot and kissed me."
"I knew it!" Jenna said. "She was mean to you because she likes you!"
"That makes no sense!" Beca yelled in frustration. Maybe she liked Chloe a little bit too.
"Love makes people do crazy things. By being mean to you, she was making herself known to you." Jenna said. "You've got to forgive her, Becs. It was three years ago!"
"I can't." Beca said. "What if it's all a trap? What if she's trying to get me to date her so she can break my heart and make fun of me for ever thinking she liked me?"
"Then don't forgive her." Jenna said. "I don't know! I'm bad at relationships!"
"Mommy!" Mason said and skipped into the kitchen. "I drew you and Beca!"
"That's so sweet!" Jenna smiled.
"Let me see!" Beca said and leaned over her sister's shoulder. "I love it!"
"Let's hang it on the fridge." Jenna said and stood up with the drawing. She put it on the fridge and Mason smiled at his work.
"Yay!" He squealed.
Beca watched her sister and nephew. She remembered how mean Chloe had been about them. How she had called her sister names, but Jenna wasn't a bad person. Jenna was a mother, who loved her son even though he was an accident. He was the best thing that had ever happened to Jenna. That was one thing Chloe didn't know. Beca couldn't forgive her quickly for that.
"Bec Bec! Can you come play?" Mason asked.
"Sure thing kiddo." Beca smiled.
