"Oh, yeah! I win again!" Dec stepped away from the arcade game system and started doing his victory dance.
Annoyed about having lost another game, Stephen waved his hand dismissively and looked away from Dec. He stared out of the arcade's window. As he did, he caught a glimpse of Ant walking arm in arm with a short brunette lass.
"Hate to interrupt your celebration, but isn't that your Ant over there?" Stephen pointed across the street where Ant was currently holding the jewelry store's door open for the mystery girl.
Dec stopped his dancing and looked at where Stephen was pointing.
The cheeky smile dropped from his face as he watched his boyfriend standing really close to a girl, while looking at some rings.
"Yeah, it is," he says weakly. "He's cheating on me..."
Sensing his best friend is about to cry, Stephen stood in front of Dec, blocking off his view of Ant.
"We don't know that, Dec. It could just be a mate his," he says unconvincingly.
"How come I don't know her then? We know each other's mates, Steve."
Stephen gaped like a fish. "Well-maybe...I don't know what to say, man."
Dec sighs. "Neither do I...this doesn't seem like anything Ant would do to me." He steps around Stephen and continues to spy on Ant, torturing himself.
"And for me to find out this way -just days before our anniversary- it's messed up, man."
"Look, they're leaving. Let's follow them and see what's really going on." Stephen put a comforting arm around Dec's shoulder as he guided him towards the arcade's exit.
"We're probably just reading this whole situation wrong."The two 16 year olds stealthily followed Ant and the mystery girl around. Along the way, Dec snapped pictures so he has evidence for when he confronts Ant.
Their spying ended when they got into the girl's car and sped off.
"Now what?" Stephen asked as they watched the car disappear.
"I'm gonna call him right now and ask him where he's at." Dec took out his I Phone and dialed Ant's number. "Let's see what he says."
He put the call on "speaker" so Stephen can listen in.
"Hey, Ant," Dec greets his boyfriend with a fake happy voice.
"Hey, pet. You missin' me?" Ant says in a teasing voice.
Dec rolled his eyes. "No," he scoffs. "I just wanted to know how work is going?"
Earlier that day, Ant had told him he was picking up an extra shift at the clothing store he works at. Clearly, that was a lie.
"Since when has me job interested you?" Ant chuckled.
"Fine, you got me. I'm bored. I only called because I wanted to hear your voice right now," he lied.
Convincingly, it seems, because Ant answers his question.
"It's going alright. I'm actually out on me break right now."
Dec suddenly had an idea on determining if Ant will be truthful to him.
"Where are you spending your break right now? I can meet you there and spend the rest of your break with you."
That must have tripped Ant up because it took him a bit longer to respond. "Oh, don't bother, pet. Me break's actually over and I'm heading back to work.
