I've Missed You - Part 6

After days of moping around and playing with the ring, I decided to stop dwelling in the past and move on. I had to head back to my job as my job transferral application was finished. I decided to place on my bravest, most bold outfit and strut into that law firm like I owned that place. I placed on my tight, over the knee length, red, over the shoulder dress with black heels.

As I strutted down to my office, everyone could probably hear my shoes clicking against the wooden floor I sat down in my chair and in true Hastings fashion, I organised everything on my desk. As I was finishing up, my assistant placed a stack of some old files to organise and transfer into the new filing system. All my confidence shattered as I saw Ava's adoption file. Can't I catch a break?!? My mind went blank as I slowly opened the file.

"Ava Hudson,

This infant was adopted by Tobias Cavanaugh and Aria Marie Montgomery Cavanaugh. It was reported that Ava would have a twin sister but Aria Marie Montgomery Cavanaugh didn't want a second child as she thought it would have been too difficult for two people under the age of thirty to raise two children. However, Tobias Cavanaugh wanted to adopt Ava's twin but he confided into Montgomery's decision. They were constantly told about Ava's twin but Montgomery constantly expressed her opinion about only wanting one child. When Ava's mother gave birth, Montgomery and Cavanaugh adopted her and wasn't there for Ava's twin's birth.

Ava's mother, Rachel Hudson, pressed for Cavanaugh and Montgomery to adopt her twin but due to Montgomery's opinions, Ava's twin was to be transferred to DC before being taken to an orphanage in Britain.

Hair Colour: Dark Brown" Lily's file stated

It's official. My suspicions have been confirmed. Lily and Ava are twins. Now that I had the evidence to prove that Ava and Lily are twins, I had no idea what to do with it.

Do I show Toby?

Do I tell Lily she has a twin?

Do I tell anyone?

My mind raced with my new found knowledge. Until I was interrupted with a knock on my door.

"Hey Hastings," My colleague said as he knocked on my door

"Oh hey Anderson," I said coming out of my thoughts

"What are you still doing here Hastings?"

"Blaine, what are you talking about?" I asked clearly confused

"Umm, Spencer do you know what time it is?" He questioned

"Yeah, its like 1pm. Isn't?" I responded and he gave me a weird look

"Girl, its like 5pm," He responded with a slightly judgmental look on his face

"What?" I asked

"Yeah, it is" He said as he held up his phone

"Ohh, shi-" I said as I collected all the things on my desk and shoving everything in my handbag

"Anyway, see you Anderson," I said rushing out of my office

"Bye Hastings. Damnn that girl is one mess," He commented with a small laugh as I ran out with an unzipped, filled handbag.

I ran into my car and headed to Emily's house. Thankfully it was a weekend or otherwise I would've forgotten to pick up Lily. She was at swimming with Emily the whole day, I couldn't wait to hold my little baby girl and forget all my problems. I stepped into the house being greeted by a burning smell.

"Hey guys-" I said before bursting into a coughing fit

"Em? Em?! What is that smell?" I asked as Emily emerged out of the kitchen with a tea towel wrapped around her arm and a metal tray.

"Hey Spence, how was work?" She asked as if everything was normal and there was no burning smell coming from the kitchen

"Great, great. Umm Em . . ."

"Yeah"

"What. What's that smell?"

"Oh, my famous empanadas," She replied proudly, holding out the metal tray with clearly burnt empanadas. "Try one,"

"Nah, I'm good," I replied avoiding the metal tray, she gave me a small glare. "I- uhh ate something on the way home," I lied

"Hmm, fine," She said giving up, placing the tray on the kitchen bench along with her tea towel

"So, how was Lily?" I asked placing my hand bag down on the couch

"She was great! She actually helped me with some of the very little kids along with Ava,"

"Ava?" i asked almost choking on my water. I never knew a 5-year old's name would almost make me choke on water.

"Yeah, Ava and Lily are really getting along. They helped other of the small kids all day and even helped with keeping time with the older kids. They had so much fun together, when Aria came to pick her up she kept asking her whether Lily could sleep over at their place. I promised Lily I would ask you as soon as you got home. So, can she sleep over at Aria's next Sunday?"

"Sure, just could you take her over there. I can't face Aria or Toby lately, especially if I see them together. I love that Lily has a new friend but I just can't face them," I half lied, I can't face Ava either now.

"Yeah sure Spence, its ok," She said as she cleaned the kitchen

"Thank you," I said

"No problem," She replied as I headed upstairs to see Lily

I walked through her room, admiring all the pictures of Lily on the walls. How much she has grown ever since I adopted her. I may not have given the gift of life to her but life gave me the gift of her. She is such a special part of my life that I have and will never regret, even my parents and Melissa say that Lily has changed my life so much. Lily ever since she was little, she loved her family, she may not have the stereotypical family but she loves everyone even if they don't love her. So, would telling her about Ava be a bad thing?  

A/N: I'm sorry I haven't updated and I know this part isn't very dramatic but yeahhh. I hope you still like it though, I promise that the next part something interesting will happen. Well, hopefully :)
