LILY

I hate having to wake up so early just to go to hell (aka high school). But it's all good, this is my final year and besides, it's better than staying here at home with my step brother, Jason.

He goes to college and thinks that he is untouchable. He thinks he can use our parents house as a party house and their money, and use me as a punching bag on a daily basis. My parents don't know. Mainly because I have been threatened by Jason. Also, I wasn't sure they would believe me. So I just have learned to keep it to myself.

I was eight when my father died. He was my best friend. Though, two years after his death, my mom married a man named Tommy, who had a son that was a couple of years older than me. Tommy is the owner of a well known magazine company. He isn't the richest man. But he has enough money to take care of my step brother and I.

My birthday was in a month and I couldn't wait because I was going to turn 18.
I have waited to turn that age for so long. Mainly because then, legally, I could move out and get far away from Jason.

Lynn's parents both died in a plane crash when she was younger. They had money too and her and her brother were left with it. Their aunt lived with them for a while, until last year when she ran off with a stranger and they haven't heard from her since.

Lynn's older brother, Ryan, is returning home today after being away for a year in a half.

Lynn and her brother are super close. He has always treated me with respect and was always protective of me. I felt safe with him. I also always had a crush on him. Though according to his girlfriend in school, I knew I would never be his type.

I'm 5'8, with hazel green eyes, curvy, medium to long brown hair and somewhat tanned skin.

Today, after school, I was going to head back to Lynn's house to help her with the dinner for the little get together/ Welcome Home party she was throwing for her brother. I know she missed him a lot.

She was going to be outside of my house any minute to take us to school and I wanted to grab a granola bar from the snack bowl on the counter for breakfast. Luckily, Jason wasn't there. For once, I could breathe.

I waited outside on the curb in front of my house and saw Lynn's car pull up.

She was a great friend and the best person I have ever known.

After arriving at our school, we headed towards our lockers. Luckily we got them next to each other.

"Well, I'm going to get ready for P.E. and I will see you in 2nd period." Lynn said.

"OK." I laughed.

She heads off to P.E. while I head off towards my first period class, English.

As I walked towards my desk, I took a seat and took out my journal and started writing down a poem. I write poetry to try and hide the pain I feel. Both physically and emotionally.

Pain

Broken and bruised
Shattered and used
Will I ever find love?
Am I even worthy enough?
I feel dirty and ashamed
With only myself to blame
But nobody knows
My story, my pain

Not all my poetry is sad. Though the only good ones really, are those I have written about Ryan since I first realized I had a crush on him.

**************

I wanted to get ready for tonight's dinner and 'welcome home' get-together. However, after getting ready, I walked downstairs to grab some water before leaving and saw Jason come walking in through the front door with a couple of his friends. I guess they were going to study.
