At first
I kept you in my heart
but you pushed
chamber to chamber
leaving every door open
until the dark blood
mixed with the bright
and my heart
could no longer
keep its functionSo I took you out
and set you
in my head
where you followed
me to sleep
and when I awoke
you had control of me
you dragged my body
beyond its capacity
so I asked you
to leaveI moved you
to my lungs instead
and it was alright
until I would open
my mouth
and you would slice
my words- my breath-At last
I resorted to keeping you
in my eyes
but you have become
a germ- an enemy
to my entityMy defenses
fought to scrape you away
with salty tears
wash after wash
red after red
a little of you left
every time
down my cheeks
until the last dropAnd like that
you were goneNow this body
uses the last
of its diminishing will
to fight me
the one who kept you
let you
do this to me.
