Kienna

I sat behind the Princess, braiding her hair. She requested I do one of the Northern styles on her. She had seemed to take a liking to my hairstyle and wanted to try it on herself.

I tied the braid off with a satiny pink bow to match her dress. "There you go, my Princess," I said as I reached for the hand mirror and gave it to her for her to examine herself. Myrcella smiled at me in the small mirror.

"Thank you, Kienna," She said politely. "It is very beautiful." I nodded and stepped away from her.

"Of course," I smiled back at her. I noticed Kiara watching me. Ever since my comments about the gardens a few days ago I had barely been able to escape her eyes. She wasn't a fool, I had given a very strong hint that I had seen her and Joffery. There was no doubt in my mind that she had told him. Now I had to be extra careful.

"Kienna," Princess Myrcella's voice came and I looked away from my sister.

"Yes, my Princess?" I asked quietly.

"Would you bring me a basket of strawberries?" She asked. I did a small curtsy before heading to the kitchens to bring her what she asked. On the way back I got the feeling someone was watching me. I kept my head low, not seeing anyone who could be watching me.

A pair of hands suddenly gripped my shoulders and forced me against the stone wall. I had dropped the basket in surprise and the berries bounced around at our feet.

I gasped in surprise. It was very dishonorable for a man to grab a woman this way in the open, especially if they didn't really know each other. I looked at my grabber.

Prince Joffery.

"Listen," His voiced hissed dangerously close to my ear. A small shiver ran down my spine. "I heard you have been giving my lady trouble." I clenched my jaw shut.

"I don't know what you are talking about, Your Grace," It was hard for me to spit out his title. He didn't exactly seem worthy of it now.

"Are you calling your sister a liar?" Joffery's voice snapped. A group of voices suddenly filled the hallway and Joffery took my arm to lead me into a side hall. He shoved me against the wall. I winced as my back cracked against the stone. "You breathe a word of what you heard or saw in the garden that night I will slit your throat myself." Joffery's fingernails began to dig into my arms. "I don't care what lies I have to make up to say you were treacherous. I will find a way. Do you understand what I'm saying?" He squeezed harder.

I couldn't bring myself to answer him, so I simply looked down at my feet. He seemed to be pleased with my response and let go of my arm, drawing his sharp claws out.

Joffery then turned on his heel and left me there, as though nothing had happened. I watched until he was out of sight.

I choked out a few breaths, realizing I had been holding it. I covered my mouth so he couldn't hear my terrified breathing. I knew Joffery had been deadly serious. He got what he wanted and anyone in his way paid the price.

When I finally felt collected enough I returned to grab the basket from the floor. I didn't even consider giving the dropped berries to the Princess. I returned to the kitchen, surprising the cooks that I was back so soon. I lied, saying that the Princess had been generous enough to share and her ladies had eaten them all.
