Kienna
It took me about half an hour just to find someone who would tell me what had happened to Ned Stark. It then took about another ten minutes for someone to tell me the story. I ran to Ned's chambers immediately after that. It only infuriated me more when the guards wouldn't let me in. They kept insisting that only family would be allowed inside and wouldn't listen when I tried to explain who I was.
Finally, when Arya must have heard my arguing, the door opened and I was allowed inside. I noticed Sansa and Arya were already there, sitting at their father's bedside. I joined them and looked over Ned intently.
"What happened?" I demanded. Sansa and Arya exchanged a few glances and I realized they were silently daring one another to tell me. "Out with it!" I exclaimed, tired and wanting the truth.
"Jaime Lannister attacked father," Arya answered in a small voice. "He killed Jory and speared father through the leg."
I felt my blood run cold. Jaime had done this? I had just seen him in the stables! He hadn't seemed too distressed when I saw him. But now that I thought about it, maybe that was why he had been so rushed to get out of the stables.
I finally had to snap out of my trance to be there for the two younger girls. I swallowed a little.
"Has he woken yet?" I asked. Sansa shook her head.
"No," Sansa said in a shaky voice. "But Grand Maester Pycelle says he believes he will be fine in time." I nodded and walked over to Ned's side. I gently picked a piece out of his hair out of his eyes. He looked so weak. He wasn't anywhere near the powerful Lord Stark I was used to seeing.
"He will be," I told them both in a sturdy voice. "Your father is a strong man. He will be back to his normal self before you know it." The two both gave small nods and I was glad that they seemed to believe me, at least temporarily.
Someone knocked on the door. We all looked up to see one of the guards poke his head in.
"The King and Queen are here to visit Lord Stark, Ladies," He told us. We all jumped up and started to organize the room the best we could. Then, when the two entered, we all dropped into low curtsies.
"Please," King Robert said. "This is not a formal situation." We all stood and I noticed the Queen's eyes watching me. I shifted uncomfortably. "Has he opened his eyes yet?"
"No," I answered. I then looked at him, wondering if he knew what Jaime had done. The King seemed unable to look me in the eyes and I imagined he knew.
"How long have you been waiting with him?" Cersei asked, breaking the silence. I looked at her out of the corner of my eye and hoped someone else would answer her.
"Arya and I have been here all day," Sansa answered politely. "Kienna got here about an hour ago, your Grace." Cersei nodded.
"You need to eat," King Robert declared. "Lady Kienna," I looked up. "Take the two to eat dinner. If their father wakes up I will send word for you." I nodded and then ushered the two girls hesitantly from the room.
